Alesis DM lite drum kit hi hat issue using Sonar 5 producer an SI-drums

Hi I've just got the Alesis DM lite drum kit an I have one small (I hope) but significant issue! I'm using sonar 5 producer an the Studio Instrument drums (Si- drums) software. When I have it all hooked up all of the drum kit sounds great except for the hi hat , I have a open hi hat an a pedal sound as I push the pedal down but it doesn't do the closed hi hat sound when my foot is pressed down on the pedal. Any help would be great as I don't know much about midi etc I've asked Alesis an they don't seem to have the solution! Any help would be great ! Thanks.

    DM Lite is unable to transmit hihat pedal status over MIDI in addition to the note being played. That means hihat will be ALWAYS open, no matter how you press the hihat pedal.
