Alesis Master Control and Sonar X1

I have been happily using Sonar 8.5 with my Alesis Master Control for a year or so.  X1 looks good, but when loaded, while  the io functions of the master control (audio and midi) work fine, the automation does not- no sliders, no buttons, no transport controls...not much use! Has anyone else had this problem and is there a solution?  I am using the latest windows7 driver from the Alesis site, (3.5.3.8761) and and I have tried both 32 and 64 bit intallations of X1  with the same result.

I've now reloaded 8.5 and it's working fine, but i would liike to enjoy the new x1 toys........

Computer is Acer Aspire M3800, Intel Core 2 Quad CPU, 4.00GB Ram, Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit.

Cheers

    Mine is working fine here.

Have you installed the X1a and X1b updates ?.

I'm running win7/64 and have only installed the 64 bit Sonar X1.

Interesting -- had the same problem with my M-Audio ProjectMix.   Works fine in SONAR 8.   In X1(b) the audio & MIDI work, the control surface does not.   I have a ticket into Cakewalk tech support.   Will post a solution if / when I get one.

    Hi Peter,

If you haven't already done so, you may need to set the control suface up again in X1.

If I remember correctly, I think I had to set it up again (as a Mackie Control) before everything worked.
That was a couple of months ago now, so my memory may not be 100 % on that.

It won't do any harm to set it up again anyway.  Even if it appears to be set up, you can just delete it and re-add it in again.

    Cheers - Cliff

My MasterControl is working here. I'd like to figure out how to get it to work with the ProChannel.

I had to set it up again in X1 BTW.

Just installed X1 Studio today with my Alesis Master Control. No real problems, apart from losing connection and had to set up again. BUT, for some reason Sonar is not showing the ADAT ins when selecting inputs! Has this function been moved, as Sonar 7 Home Studio continues to show all ADATS in the menu when selecting inputs.
Only other thing, had to set up the master fader to control left and right.

    Hi Greg,

All inputs are showing OK here - Analog, Adat and SPDIF.

Are you running 32bit or 64bit, and do you have the latest Alesis driver ?.

I'm on 64bit, and my driver shows version 3.5.3.8671 dated 3/05/2010.

Hi Cliff, thanks for your response. Turns out on installing and setting up my new Sonar I neglected to check the ASIO box, done that now and all inputs re-appeared.
I have just used both ADATs to transfer from an Alesis HD24, no problems except a rather loud vocal that does not overload on the HD24 overloads rather badly in Sonar, so gonna see if the ADAT inputs can be attenuated at all.
    Thanks again. Greg
