Alesis QX49 keyboard controller configuration

Anyone have experience setting up the Alesis QX49? I have it setup, basically, but not sure how to assign the sliders and knobs to any tracks I select. I can't get it to control any other tracks but the first 8. If you own the device you know how pathetically inadequate the manual (quick start guide) is.
