Alesis SR16 (or any GM) midi groove convert for Addictive Drums 2

I have just brought my old Alesis SR16 back to life and found there cool song of several grooves and fills. I managed to transfer that to Sonar as a midi file. I played that through the Addictive drums, snare and kick are ok but everything else is a disaster. I suppose the secret is with drum maps wizzardy and I am just few clicks away from the success. I guess SR16 patterns are General Midi.

Any hint highly appreciated

There is a GM option in AD2.  Just click on the ? then the map window and select GM.

Good luck.

The reason people say the vinyl sounds better is because the music was better.

There have been drum maps for the SR-16 in SONAR for many years.
You will have to move some notes around so that they line up with the correct drums, but that's not too difficult.

I am selling my MIM Fender Stratocaster HSS, red and black. PM for more details.

Music Creator 2003, MC Pro 24, SONAR Home Studio 6 XL, SONAR  X3e, CbB, Focusrite Saffire, not enough space.
Everything is better with pie.

Yes !   It worked, the balance between drum kit elements is very different but this can be fixed in AD2 mixer. Thanks.

Moving notes is sth I really wanted to avoid. Anyway what would you do with midi grooves that were done for say BFD or EZD in order to play them through AD2?

I've been there. I created this video about 3 years ago.
It goes through step by step setting up the Alesis SR-16 in Sonar to use with Session Drummer 3.
It also shows how to load SFZ files in to Session drummer, as some SFZ files are multi instrument (like the hi hats).

Chuck, thanks, very helpful video, I missed that somehow.

Funny, next thing that  follows your video on YouTube is our own Craig Anderton in early '90s presenting SR16, with lots of brown hair and teenage enthusiasm.

No matter what kind of set up I use (Keyboard controller, Akai mpc, I still find my SR-16 the most direct route to tapping out beats in Sonar (triggering)
It gives a great basic floor plan, then the fine tuning is done in the Piano Roll View.

i would invest in toontracks ezplayer pro, you can get it to load midi patterns and spit out versions to suit most formats easy as. it's pretty cool

http://www.toontrack.com/product/ezplayer-pro/

as to moving notes, it's not that difficult moving them if you have to, control/click in the prv on whichever row will select the whole row and you can just drag them to the required position and repeat, it would be a pain if you had to move each note individually.
