Alicia's Keys
I'm currently using the Grand Piano sound from a Yamaha DGX630 and I use the Yamaha to record midi. Occasionally I change my piano sound to the TruePiano Amber but I find it a bit clunky sounding. I looked at upgrading TruePianos and in my research came across Native Instruments Alicia's Keys. I love the sound so my question is - Does anyone have any experience with using this plugin with Sonar Platinum and were there any issues with compatibility etc?

Hi! Alicia's Keys is a very good Kontakt library. If you've run Kontakt for anything else, you shouldn't have a problem.
I can say that I've had no problems with Kontakt / Sonar compatibility.

Alicia's Keys does have a great sound. Works fine in Kontakt & Sonar for me.

I use it reasonably often, and it's great. I've had no issues with it at all.

I do have Alicia's Keys but I honestly never use it anymore. If that sound is what you're looking for, then fine. And it might indeed be the right sound in certain situations. But if you're looking for a more natural sounding grand piano, I think there are better options. If so, I would suggest that you have a look at VI Labs True Keys Pianos (not to be confused with 4Front Technologies TruePianos which you've already mentioned). It's a bundle actually on sale right know (see this thread in the Deals forum). You will for another week get three beautifully sampled instruments (a Steinway D, a Fazioli F308 and a small Bechstein) for the price of one Alicia's Keys. You could also have a look at Addictive Keys Studio Grand from XLN Audio, which is also a beautifully sounding Steinway D for even less money. It's one of my favorites. And XLN Audio normally have a 50% discount once or twice a year.

I went back and forth on it...and finally took the PayPal hit. I already owned UVI's Grand Piano Model D (same model as the True Keys American), which lists for $79. VI Labs American already seems much more expressive. To get similarly beautifully sampled Fazioli and Bechstein pianos for another $20 with this deal? Easy decision. And they're wonderfully different from each other. And working with the UVI Workstation is great. Excellent standalone mode. EDIT: I forgot to mention...I was surprised to see an extra instrument included by VI Labs for free. True Cowbells! Three different bells, sampled a bunch of different ways. No manual. No license required. Just put the UFS file with your other UVI soundbanks. Hooray for MORE COWBELL!

I am a pianist and I have collected a number of piano vst over the years. I have to say they all sound different and not a matter of which one is the best. My most used piano is pianotec 5. It is the most dynamic and expresive one IMHO. It also has a longer sustain compared to most sampled piano.

I second the Addictive keys Studio keys which sounds great,I just got this free as just recently purchased a Focusrite Scarlett interface but not sure if its free to all models.

No issues with Alicia's Keys... used it on several songs since it's release in SPLAT.

I've been holding out for Freddie Mercury's Fazioli and the C. Bechstein Digital but the VI Labs 71% off bundle deal really looks interesting, especially as it'll play within Falcon and thus allow for amazing layerings/synthizing/modulations. Three wonder pianos for $99 is hard to resist! Fleer, as you have both Fazioli's does the much smaller footprinted VI Faz hold a candle to Mercury's? Same for the Bech? Probably unfair to compare 2 high end/priced to the VI Labs offering but ya never know till ya ask and Fleer's da expert!

Howza V-man, hope selling the house went well.
You're right, both the Wavesfactory Mercury and Bechstein Digital Grand are in a different league. As for the Mercury, playing that "Freddie-like" sounding grand with those Metropolis EMT-verbs is, well, quite nice. And the Bechstein is, I believe, the best Bechstein you can find in a VI, quite similar to playing a real one, plus lots of tweaking capabilities you'll never find elsewhere.
BUT, that VI Labs sale is totally worth it, three wonderfully playable grands for $99.
I had been waiting for them to go on sale, as they normally wouldn't move much in price. So, $99 is a no-Weiner if there ever was one. Very happy with them. And you're getting one of the best American D (Steinway) grands out there. Plus those Bechstein and Fazioli flavors. And there's Una Corda to boot!
Finally, sure wish I had Falcon myself. Reminds me of those 1200 Keyscape Creative patches we got for free to use Keyscape in Omnisphere with.

Oh, you make it soooo hard to resist this then... hmmm... gotta see if it says how long the killer deal is for. Then again, I know I really want the Merc/Bech combo; have so many pianos already! Still not sold on Keyscape as many of it's goodies are irrelevant to me, but yea, that's the idea...
House still not on the market... perpetual rains in the bay area and frequent extended slogs thru the extreme snow to help my ailing mom in coeur d'alene have slowed things down. On the other hand, nov/jan is the worst time to sell and if the country stays together, I'll do pretty good when it hits the market in the next three or four weeks. Bay area market is moving up again.

The Fazioli in the bundle is really stunning, considering it's included in the bundle...Heads above the rest, to my ears... I just love that sound...The others are great, mind you but I have peculiar ears... Regardless, I would say this bundle is the best deal ever for someone looking for pianos...I mean, 99 bucks!!! btw, anyone wanting to watch the vids, click onto the youtube link... the website's streaming really sucks. Since I have dozens of expensive pianos already, I'm resisting by immersing myself in Mercury's website... I think the Fazioli... that 12 foot monster... has the sound I've always dreamed of... it's got the Yamy sparkle with the depth of... well... nothing I've ever heard of before... and to think I'd be playing on Freddie's piano... oh my!

have a fair few pianos as vst's etc. I use a few reason based pianos also . the ones in abbey road (from 2007), and the reason pianos one.. I like how they were sampled ,even years later. the Steinway Vertegrand "Mrs. Mills" piano in it, is something a bit different.
there is also a flatpack one , called "blackbird" joke being I actually drive the road it was named after. another of their synths is kilburn, again local.
hollow sound do some nice konkakt based ones also.
