All Around The World...really this time!

I just put another track from my band "D'YEA" up on our Soundclick site. We're up to our usual wackyness on this song... I think it's kind of catchy in it's own wierd way.
As always, comments and critisism is encouraged! Please?

I'll comment I but won't critique because I am new to songwriting and recording. I loved this song. Who is the guitar player, he was able to make a statement without walking all over the song...it was great. You may think this is strange but the intro guitar had the same feel as Angus Young on the Dirty Deeds album. Stupid I know but that was the first thing that came to my mind. Good job!!

Great Song,Loved it.A mixture of a good bass driving rock Song, and Rap,then the Chorus brings it all together. The Chorus reminds me a little of Steve Miller.

Good straight ahead rock and roll! I love it... At about the 3 minute mark, has a total ZZ Top feel to it. Very well done Sonic..

I don't usually comment on guitar songs, but this was cool, kind of made me think of Dr Hook's "On the Cover of the Rolling Stones." Never did get the hang of the guitar because you can find the same note in more than one place...

Really, the song is a lot of fun, nice job!

    WOW! Thanks gang!
Brent86... the guitar player is Jerry Outlaw. Besides being a great friend, he has a band called Bogus Pomp that plays all Frank Zappa covers... they've even done two shows with the Florida Orchestra! Right now he's touring Europe with Savatage. I wish he'd get back soon so we can get back to doing D'YEA shows.
Thanks again for the great comments, gang!

Oh YEA...the rythm guitar was played by D'Yea himself... the instigater of the whole project. Jerry double them up and played lead.

    great little tune sonic,

with some cool little production tricks thrown in there as well, although the guitar solo at a point sounded a little freaky (almost like the signal was breaking up). but perhaps that was intentional.

    anyway thanks for posting it.

    Hey MIke....

Have you ever given thought to sending this or any of your other mixes out to be mixed by someone else?

There...... Now you will not feel left out of the bunch and will be among good company with the others.

On the serious side..... Yeah the song, production and mix IS that good and IMO is spot on. Very cute tune. And commercial ready.

The only thing that is out of place for me is the guitar that comes in at the start of the song, as well as the solo.... Straight, smack dab up the middle! Does not really work for me. (I have an extreme adversity to a solo instrument taking up the place which should be reserved for the main vox.) My suggestion..... Move it to one side (about 10 o'clock or roughly 35%) and add a crossing delay to it. IOW..... Create the pocket for the vox from the very get-go.

    Everything else is fine.

    Okay.... I am done now.

    I give it

    Thanks, Chaz!
I stuck that guitar smack dab middle so that when the rest of the mix comes in everything sounds extra fat. Off to the side would be cool too. There's a bit of unintentional distortion in that guitar, but I liked the tone and attitude so much I kept it. (place emoticon here)
I'll be sure to know if/when D'YEA gets back on stage... it's quite a spectical.

    Listening while I type:

    1. Intro was crackly.
    2. LIke how you build up the layering.
    3. Very inventive mix with parts varying in and out kept it very exciting.
    4. Loved the harmonies.
    5. Loved that rap break. Just added to the excitement of the whole song. Even there you bring teh guitar solo in before teh rap ends, great the way that was mixed! And that bass thudd thud thudd right b4 the solo.
    6. OK, I don't know who you guys are but IMHO this is probably teh best song I have heard on this Forum to date, and I listen a lot!

I also liked your other tracks which I commented on in previous posts.
If I were a record exec I'd sign you guys in a heartbeat.

Song itself is like the Stones on steroids.

The lyrics are really cool. Harmony parts are awesome.

LOL! You crack me up, dude!
Jerry used the V-Amp for all of his parts...leads and such. Billy Wells (D'Yea) used his old Marshall amp for the intro part and some of the rythm gits. I'm not sure what model it is (I'm a keyboard player and ignorant to that stuff), but it's cream colored, heavy, and looks old.
The harmony vocals were a blast to do. D'Yea, Gene Heinous and I all sang those. Antares was used here and there, just to...you know.
BTW...the CD "Basstar Mission" is still available in limited quantities. We pressed a thousand and still have just a few left.
I'm kind of surprised...except for kiwisdontdrinktea(who mentioned the crackle in the intro guitar), nobody has said anything bad about this track. We must be doing SOMETHING right!

I'm kind of surprised...except for kiwisdontdrinktea(who mentioned the crackle in the intro guitar), nobody has said anything bad about this track. We must be doing SOMETHING right!
    HURRAH!!!!

Do not party too hardy, Mike. Remember.... You did get a "Have you ever given thought to sending this or any of your other mixes out to be mixed by someone else?" question from me. Now, didn't you?! Huh? Huh?

(Inside joke between Mike and I)
