All Tracks Grayed Out
Sonar Home Studio XL 7. I have a project with 10 tracks. All of a sudden, all the tracks are greyed out and I am not able to edit them. It is the same with both audio and midi. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm sorry no one has been able to help you. This is a problem none of us has experienced, in our programs or here in the forum.
Have you tried a System Restore?
Try calling or emailing Cakewalk Support.

I've never seen that either.
What do you mean by not being able to edit the tracks?
Can you change anything like mute/unmute a track?
Have you tried doing a Save As.... and saving under a different name and opening that one?
Do other projects open OK?

Thanks for the replies. I was able to work around the problem by copying each track into a new project, and now it works fine. !

I was able to work around the problem by copying each track into a new project, and now it works fine.
I'm still curious. What exactly was greyed out? Apparently you were able to copy the tracks, but what were you being prevented from doing?

Same here, curiosity. This sounds like totally new problem description to me. If the tracks were greyed out, how could you copy them?
SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre - Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc. The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

Hi -- I have had the exact same problem sine I first installed Sonar. I posted to this group a month or so ago and could not find any help either. I tried your workaround by pasting tracks into a new project, but still no joy. All tracks are grayed out in every project I've tried. I get the same even when I open one of the demo projects. I'm about ready to chuck it in and go back to the cheapie daw I was using in the past. Also, I called the support center and tried to explain as clearly as possible what was going on, but the tech spoke to me as if I was the idiot nephew they keep chained up in the back room. I was fairly offended. Glad you were able to get your problem solved.

If your's is the same problem as the original poster's, then perhaps you could start by answering some of the questions that he ignored.

in addition to those questions he didn't answer that you need to answer, I would also like to know:
what operating system?
verify you also have SHS7XL for us
which soundcard are you using?
which driver mode?
what does your RECORDING and PLAYBACK TIMING MASTERs say? in audio>options
