Alloy 2 - Sale

This is not a specific technique post per say, however, if you use third party plugs to implement a specific technique then you may be interested in this.  I use Izotope's Ozone for mastering and find that the presets are at least a good starting point.  I really like Ozone.  I was also aware of Izotope's Alloy product which is designed mostly to be used on individual tracks.  I never bought it because I was using SONAR's included plugs and I couldn't see paying another $200 for a suite of plugs that did the same thing.  Having said that, I like Ozone so much I couldn't help but wonder how well Alloy worked.  Then, I saw a great sale at Sweetwater for Alloy, $149, and I couldn't resist.  I'm glad I didn't.  Man, I really like this product.  It gives me access to a bunch of commonly used functions all in one plugin interface.  In addition, I'm finding the presets to be a great starting point for tailoring my tracks.  I'm really dig'n the transient shaper and the limiter.

Anyway, just a heads up.  Alloy 2 at Sweetwater for $149.

RAWK!!!

Love me some Alloy... But I already have 1, so I would need a better price to upgrade. As well as to be convinced that it's that much better? Love me some Alloy.

I worked a lot with it over the weekend.  Man, I really like this plugin!  Not only does it make my tracks sound better it also teaches along the way.  The presets are a good starting point and they reveal the types of things that need tweaking for various instruments.  I'm using stuff that I've always avoided or ignored because of my lack of understanding.  I'm now using gates, transient shaper, desser and limiter a long with the other usual suspects.  'Very cool tool.
