Always hurt to let one go...
An old Takamine, I bought 14 years ago. I know Takamine isn't Taylor or Martin, bit still... Sounded pretty nice. Even w/ the old strings on, still surprises me. It was the one which stood out among all the others in the store, w/ a virtually unlimited budget. Treated her badly. Smashed her on a tombstone. A couple of times. Still pinches my old heart to let this one go. Wrote a few cool songs together. The cool thing about old guitars is that friends usually buy them back and put them on display in their living room or give them back to my younger brother. I've been lucky enough never to lose track of one. So I guess I'll see this one again. Next, getting rid of Bertha - the old 1/4 tape machine... (I'm keeping the old reels though).

I know what you mean about letting go. I have an 83' left handed Les Paul Custom Fretless Wonder. I hate it, can't play it, but dag nabit I can't bring myself to get rid of it. Mine is actually road worn, not made to look that way. :) This is a pic of a new one. Can't really see what the frets look like in this pic, but they are about 1/8 wide and flat, almost flush with the neck, that's why they are called a Fretless Wonder. You either love it or hate it, I hate it, but can't bring myself to sell it. I could buy 3 other guitars for what I'd get for this.

Yepper. It's road worn, but plays perfectly. It was well broke in when I got it. I've always been afraid to be too aggressive with cleaning it for fear of removing the gold finish. I was told it's one of a kind because they didn't make any left handed and it had to be special ordered. What makes it even more peculiar is it's marked 'Second' on the back of the head because it has a hairline flaw in the body. The finish is ok, but you can see a line underneath it if you look really hard. Sorry, didn't mean to hijack the thread. :) I was just relating to not being able to let go. :)

I'm thinking we've all got "the one that got away" stories, the one's we will regret forever. Mine may not seem like the typical vintage guitar story, but many years ago I had a beautiful, US made BC Rich Gunslinger (this was during my shredder days, it was the same model and finish of the guitar Tony MacAlpine can be seen with on the back of his second album "Maximum Security". She was great player and I had saved for quite sometime to get her. It's one of those typical "fell on hard times stories" and sold her in a moment of desperation. I miss her to this day even though I've generally moved away from shred type guitar. Now I own no expensive guitars (although I'm really tempted by a slightly pricey Fender I've played recently) and tend towards more blues/soul/R&B type music. I know - very very 80's

With Rain's hectic schedules you need a GPS to find him! :) Ya know ... the tuners on this have built in string winders. They are spring loaded and pop out of the knob and look like little cranks so you can spin the tuners real fast when replacing strings. 100% original except the little white thingy on the pup switch, original hardshell case. http://guitardaterproject.org/gibson.aspx Ser. No. 83271542 My apologies, it's an 81, not an 83. Guitar Info Your guitar was made at the Nashville Plant, TN, USA November 23rd, 1981 Production Number: 42 Currently accepting all coordinates. ;)

I still miss this one, a 1977 re-issue of a '55. The first guitar I ever bought. Changes in the band forced me to sell it and get a bass rig.

craigb Hehe... With Rain's hectic schedules you need a GPS to find him! We're so looking forward to October. Stability, at least. I probably wouldn't have picked Vegas as my first choice to settle down and buy a house, but since it's where we're heading, I embrace it 100%.
