Am I missing something or is the search forum feature not working right?

I am having issues finding messages I know I have seen recently.  I even look at some recent ones and then try to find them using search.  It seems most of my searches produce results that are several months old only.  I have can rarely find more current messages when searching.  Maybe they have a ton of noise words defined or somehow my defaults are messed up.

Has anyone else had any issues with searching here?  If not, I will again review my profile settings to look for what I may have done to break it.

Thanks,
~C

the forum search has not worked correctly ever since they moved to ASPPlayground, which, IIRC, has been about 4 years or so - maybe more.

    much more reliable:
    go to google
    [insert your search words] site:forum.cakewalk.com

the "site:XXX" tells google to limit your search to the forum domain.

Include the phrase forum.cakewalk.com in google along with the subject you have in mind.

That's one of the few practical ways.

    Hi Beagle,
Thanks for the reply and confirming that its not something related to my profile or something I was missing.  I am already using google's site: search to find posts here.
Its too bad because I am sure a lot of users would benefit from being able to find helpful posts and do not really know how or care to use google to search this site.  Also, many useful topics will prematurely die due to this.

    Thanks again!!

Better still, why don't they migrate the whole forum to new software framework. It's not exactly hard if you know what you're doing.

they've said they have been planning to do that, but it's not easy since they have several customizations they've done to this one.

Every forum software is customizable....see, if they'd started doing it a month ago they'd be a month closer to having it done!
