Amarillo

Haven't been able to hang much lately. Health stuff. Here is a Western song, all done with PG Music's wonderful Band In A Box/Sonar X3.

Amarillo

©2016 Robert Randall Burke

Amarillo
You couldn't let her go
Amarillo
How was I to know?
There ain't no use
In lookin' back, it's true
But Amarillo
I've been missin' you.

Amarillo
It's been a long long time
Amarillo
Since you made her mine
There ain't no use
In headin' back, it's true
But Amarillo
I've been missin' you.

And I never felt so all alone
Than when I saw your name in stone
I'm leavin' Amarillo too.

Amarillo
She wanted me to stay
Amarillo
You took it all away.
There ain't no use
In lookin' back, it's true
But Amarillo
I've been missin' you.

    James,
Thanks. BIAB is a fantastic tool, especially with the Real Tracks. Their "User Showcase" has a ton of great music done with the program:

    Holy road apples,  that's good.

Song is touching, mix is balanced, lead vocals sound pro, bgv are perfect, slide guitar, just a great combo all around. Even the obligatory modulation up a step is done to perfection.

I'd bring the drums up a hair.

    really nice!

Nice to hear a real "country" song.
A shame you have to tag it "alt-country".
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the crunchy guitars in "modern" country.
But its pushed past the "classic rock" with a twangy vocal.
One thing I always enjoyed with the Dixie Chicks was the "traditional" country piece on every album.
    Well done Bob!

I love it. A really solid song - melody and lyrics  works so well together. The vocal is great as well. Melancholy but not so much so that its a bummer - sets a strong mood and that's mark of a terrific song. Super job.
