American Idol Contract

Check this out, it's excerpts from the contract that American Idol contestants have to sign. It basically says 19 Merchandising Ltd. owns you, even if you don't win. It gives the producers the right to reveal "intimate", "defamatory", "embarrassing", and "disparaging" information about contestants, even if it's made up. The contestants, however, are forbidden from discussing the show or the company.

This is what you call selling your soul for fame.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

    Seems fair enough to me.

If you are stupid enough to enter then I think having some written confirmation of that fact would be worth reading back to yourself a few years down the line.

It would likely be the only way of coming to terms with the fact you REALLY were that far off the planet when you volunteered for what seemed like a good idea at the time, or that your parents really were that pushy.

You found that document on the internet which of course confirms it as genuine....  Now that's what I call selling your soul to make it look like you have an interesting tale to start a thread with....

I'd hope the REAL one was a bit more water-tight than that in favour of Simon Fuller's interests.

Wow.... you get paid $1400 in full, can be sued for $5 MILLION if you breach the contract, and they can show that crap on Alpha Centauri if they want.

What's not to like about that?
