American Idol - James Durbin and Zakk Wylde

Did any of you see this last night?  I'm not a rocker but I thought James Durbin did a great performance.  I was certainly surprised to see Zakk Wylde on stage with him.  Casey didn't do too shabby either.

If you didn't get a chance to see it I think it's worth watching.  Zakk ripped up that guitar!  Here

Yeah it was pretty good! I would think the other contestants would be crying "foul" because they didn't get a famous guitar player to perform with them - did that affect the voting?

I met Zakk briefly when he was on his very first tour with Ozzy (he was only around 20 I think). Now he looks more like a biker dude, and apparently his drinking is what caused Ozzy to part ways with him (that must take a lot!), but he still shreds.

Although it was a good performance by Zak I found it distracting and unnecessary to have that long of a solo for a contest of sigers/artists to be judged by.

Now Casey on the other hand (or any performer for that matter) playing his own instrument was cool.

That McDonald guy has got to go. I had high hopes for Haley early on but lately she isn't cutting it IMO.

I'd have to agree.  I don't get him.  Last week I thought he was going to knock over the guitarist that was playing on stage with him.

I don't get Jacob either. I think he has a great voice.  However, IMO, I think he gets caught up in the moment too many times and loses control of his performance that just turns me off.  If I'm watching the recorded performance later in the evening I usually end up fast forwarding past him.

Too bad Pia is gone,  I had high hopes for her.  Lauren seems to be holding back if I compare her to when she initially auditioned.  All-in-all it is certainly up for grabs.

What a strange season and shows that at least the old metal bands became very basic version, we have Steven Tyler as a judge, Iggy Pop as a performer, Sammy Hagar and Judas Priest songs performed so far this season, butchered version of the song Nirvana, Zakk Wylde, showing up at the show next week will make a wonderful version of James ' Venom-welcome to hell with special guest coach Cronos.

    James Durbina "Rocker"...............please............total pretender.

To me the whole show blows big time..........

    Judges,contestants........all of it.

    I do admit I have watched ...................

IMO Pia is/was a star in the making...........

and  "Country" kid and Lauren will likely get a look from the  "Nashville" side.....

    Whatever......

This years contestants/nominees/handpicked lot is uninspiring.

Not that they went on to anything special but I miss Ruben, Taylor & Adam. They were heads above in terms of talent, ingenuity and performance (IMHO).
