eph221, im completely aware that the girls are not good singers but there was something about the collabortion and edginess against my voice that I wanted to include. However I do realise it takes away from the chorus melody so the latest version has dropped them out on the main parts, Let me know if that is any better
Serious Noize, no anthony is not on this although I had thought about getting him to do a remix. In terms of midrange/treble reverb, Im finding it hard to make a call on that right now, does anyone else hear those things in the mix translation to your system setup?
Cheers,
Cian
I'm no mixmaster Cian, I was just trying to help with what I hear on my speakers. I like the music and song. It's so hard to fit things together and every new song is a different situation, another puzzle to solve on top of the work you do writing and performing. A lot of work no doubt.
Maybe a little bit of compression here and there might help even things out a little bit? Although I add the ? because I don't know. I found this tutorial on compression helpful and informative, although you can do the same with any compression plugin :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbnPiPjyfXs Compression even's out the volume levels on your tracks, you can do it with any plugin, even the cakewalk ones have presets that might help. But the thing with compression is, and I am NOT SPEAKING FROM EXPERIENCE, just learning myself, you can over do it and it will cause your high sounds or low/Transients to be cut off from the sound, or that is have a sound with no real expression. At least that's the way I am starting to try and understand compression. It's just a thought. Just trying to help, although like I said I am no mixmaster and I thought I would offer a little info as I see it, although I am sure there are others on here who can explain compression way better than me, like I said, I'm just starting trying to learn how to use it. And it may not be relevant in your mix, but I'm thinking smaller fields of sound can make for a crisper mix. Although I dunno. Just a thought.
Thing is, in the past I'd play some Hard rock 80's/Metal music and get told that with that style the Vocals were semi-buried in the mix, or held back a little bit. But with this type of music I have no idea.
I will be very interested to hear the advice you get on this one and hope someone corrects me on my thoughts and advise other tips/tricks knowledge on how to use things in the mix.
You know a lot of time, people say you need to do something or something is lacking in your mix, but they don't take the time to say "Try this on this track". That's what is missing from this forum, some preset's on ideas.
Anyway, sorry to post so much to read, typing is easier for me to speak these days.
I wish you well with you Song and music my friend, these are just my thoughts, I'm just trying to help.
Thanks for sharing, I enjoyed hearing this!
