One major problem comes up quickly though - there is no tech support for Ample Sound' (Surprise !). There is only a forum (like this Cakewalk forum) where users take their problems, and hope to have them resolved. If you're very polite and don't mention other similar products (that don't have the same problems as Ample Guitar) they will reply back to you' without deleting your questions (yes, their moderator controls the forum's content like a Microsoft lawyer).

But is this why there is no posts relating to complaints about it?

Fair enough.  That might explain why there are no questions about this on their forums.

It's still rather puzzling why the few "outside" reviews I've seen have praised the Ample stuff, without bringing to light (what should be) the glaring timing issue.

Maybe they didn't try playing the instrument in real-time?  Who knows?

When the product was on offer, some posters raved about it. I'd feel happier if some of them chipped in on this thread to confirm real time playing isn't an issue. I trust posters here, but being suspicious of their forum, I am wary to trust positive feedback, if negative feedback is being removed.

Not seeing positive support here, so money is staying in my account.

Not to throw more fuel on the fire, but I found this glowing detailed video review:

You can even see the reviewer play (offscreen via keyboard), and watch the vsti respond pretty much instantly.

He's got me convinced... at least to try out the demo.  (I'll see if I can manage it this weekend and report back).

I didn't realise the demo was still available. I couldn't find before, and had assumed as that video is dated, that the offer had passed.

Post a link if you find it please

Realize this is an old thread but I picked up Ample Sounds AGG yesterday and once I got it installed (more tedious than most installs) I immediately noticed the latency issue. I was thankful this am when I got a polite email from AS saying my payment wasn`t received and asking if I wanted to complete the order. Somehow I ended up w a 7 day free demo which they don`t even advertise that you can do. Anyway, I was feeling lucky cuz this latency problem seemed to have no solution and makes the product completely unplayable in real time. Looking thru every post on their kvr site I did find a couple of references but the solutions were cryptic at best, like the one linked in the first post. I seems like they don`t understand what people are asking them. Finally I did find one post by the developer that says straight up if you want to play in real time you have to turn the START dial all the way to the right. I`m guessing here but I think that moves the start time of the sample playback 50ms into the sample (kind of like the solution an earlier poster had proposed might work). And guess what? IT WORKS! No more latency in real time playing! Actually, moving the value to 40 ms works well also. I haven`t tried it in Sonar yet. Playback in a DAW apparently should be accomplished w Start time at 0 ms and with a compensating adjustment in the DAW. I don`t really know why that is, unless it is in order to take advantage of the realism of the full sample, but it seems like it may be unnecessary.
Bottom line is that there is a quick fix for the real time playback latency issue.

Quick update for anyone interested. I suggested to the AS folks that they take a look at this old thread to understand the problem people were having. I think they must have. I got a follow up thank you from them in which they stated that they have now changed the default start time to 35ms (quite usable for real time playing).

Someone had questioned if there is a vst3 version. There is, but it is not currently handling midi cc like aftertouch so I think it is being pulled from their server until that is sorted out.

My first impressions of the AGG are very positive. Great sounding instrument, a little cheaper than some others and the developers are quite responsive.
