Par the course. Again, as always, the refusal to throw a bone with discounting gear in the shop without needing to buy bulk gear credit continue. New customer, great deal. Existing customer who has supported IK and bought everything bundled before the give aways, squat.
Of course none of this is surprising.

Well the fact that there are still people that don't own this software is quite surprising! I noticed on the JRR page (link above) Sample Tank 2 is only $79....I wonder if they might just tell you at sometime before you buy it, that it's a VERY old, 32bit only product that is soon (well maybe soon...) to be replaced. If they didn't tell you this and you didn't know (perhaps you've been on a trip to Mars or somewhere) I might just be more than a little p***ed when I found out. Strange marketing indeed.

Gear Credits can be used, software-wise this is a sale on AmpliTube 3 and Collections which can be purchased with Gear Credits. JamPoints can be used to buy qualifying products too which is something we haven't done in the past and I'm glad the decision was made differently here (and this is a good way to get the qualifying hardware at half off too if you have the JamPoints). Yes, if you have everything or don't want/need to get into the hardware side of it you won't benefit much from this or almost any Group Buy. Even if you have one or two of the collections you could end up with six pieces of software for peanuts especially if you use JamPoints.

How about putting gear not part of collections straight up on sale without the dreaded gear credit route? IK seems to have no problem putting individual igear on sale all the time.

I think this is a great suggestion, I've stated it internally before and I've asked to repeat the free gear thing we've done a few times in the past too.

The problem with the free gear promotion (from a current customer point of view) is that it catered to new users and those who have least supported IK in the past. Last time if I recall, 90% of the free gear was part of the base product and the one piece that wasn't was part of a collection. Net result, as usual, nice deal for new users, absolutely nothing for users who bought the products in the first place. Putting gear not part of bundles on sale is not really rocket science, has been requested ad nauseum in the past here and on kvrforum and is completely consistent with how IK markets its iGear products.

This is part of the IK Business model...new customers = more revenue...old customers = less revenue = don't matter so much....and "i" business matters A WHOLE LOT...it's in the Business Plan.
