An ADDICTIVE DRUMS Questions ... AD1 to AD2 etc

Hi Guys,

I think this is the place for this Q? No Addictive Drums section here OR third party section?

Anyway - just wondering I have Latest Platinum installed. I have just reinstalled Addictive Drums 2 ONLY. I notice i also have option to reinstall Addictive Drums 1.

Do I need Addictive Drums 1 if I have 2 installed? Am I missing out on any older extra adpaks etc? If so, are AD1 adpaks upgradeable to 2 or is this required?

Cheers A

AD2 is much better. When you install AD2 your current AD1 adpaks are uprgraded. So, you still have the same drums and the only thing you are not using any more is the AD1 control panel, shell or whatever you want to call it.

    Thanks Jmasno5

However I did not have AD1 installed before installing AD2. I just bypassed AD1.

Should I uninstall the lot. Then install AD1. THEN install AD2 again so this current AD1 adpaks uprgrade happens??

This would only be true for users who received the AD2 upgrade during a small window near the end of X3. If a user purchased X3 prior to that time their original AD requires a fee to upgrade to AD2 and the new AD2 Producer Bundle does not automatically import or include the original AD content.

Unless you are one of the late X3 users who received the free upgrade to AD2 and want to use the original AD content you need to either install the original AD or pay for the upgrade. If you elect not to pay for the upgrade, the installation order does not matter. If you pay for the upgrade you can skip installing the original AD unless it is needed to open old projects.

Interesting one at the XLN Facebook page put up by themselves not a user:

AD2 TECH TIP: Load your old AD1 User Presets in AD2!
    - Simply drag'n'drop your AD1 preset onto the AD2 interface
    - Save it as an AD2 preset
(If you are not sure where to find your AD1 presets, just open AD1, click the "?" button and select "Open the AD User Folder".)

I tried this. Dragged and dropped Chemical House etc from C:\Users\xxxxx\Documents\Addictive Drums\User Presets to the AD2 I/F. It did "stick", then saved BUT when one went to play - no sound. In the KIT view the elements all say NO LICENSE even though my AD1 License is logged with XLN ..

Worth a go anyway shur :D

If you want to use the AD kits in AD2 you need to purchase the upgrade from AD to AD2 the run the XLN installer. This will cause the AD kits and grooves to be installed in AD2. Then if you want to use any presets you have created in AD, they can be imported and will work in AD2. The AD preset are installed as part of the upgrade.

    No
AD2 does not contain any of the original AD content. I believe the XLN store even prevents AD2 owners which also own AD from purchasing the individual AD2 packs of AD content instead steering them to the upgrade.
