An easy way to get Beatscape and Platinum

Hey there
I've recently updated from X1 to Platinum. Actually it was a new machine so the Platinum was a fresh install. I know there are many doubters about Beatscape but I love it. It does what I need, and it did it well. However, upon the installation and many Google searches, I was horrified that Beatscape was stopped after X1. I have tried installing Beatscape and registering the DLL in the VST folder - Platinum did "find" it as I got notified, but I knew it wouldn't be that simple. I can't see it in my plug-ins and I read on Sound on Sound that I need to install the old 32-bit plugins via an install of X1 first, then upgrading. As I've already installed Platinum, I was wondering if I'm missing some trick to get Beatscape working?
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Liam

The easiest way to get Beatscape installed correctly is run the Beatscape installer which came as a separate disk or download with X1. Simply copying the dll does not create the appropriate registry entries. It does not matter if Beatscape is installed before or after Platinum, it is a completely separate process.

If using the download, all you need are the two installers
03_Beatscape_part1.exe and
04_Beatscape_part2.exe

Don't bother with the rest of X1 (unless you want some of the other plug-ins which have been dropped such as V-Vocal, Analyst, Pentagon...).

Thanks for getting back SO quickly.
Yes, I did the proper install. I downloaded:
03_Beatscape_1_0_2.part1.exe
and
03_Beatscape_1_0_2.part2.rar
I did the installation and I can see the content in the Beatscape Factory Content, the application is in C:\Program Files (x86)\Cakewalk\Beatscape and I have the Beatscape DLL in the
C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\VstPlugins\Beatscape
But Sonar Platinum doesn't see it.
I just don't know what I'm doing wrong - it seems like it should be working but I can't see it.
Many thanks again

Did you run the VST scanner? Which release of SONAR Platinum? Which synth layout are you using?

Sonar version is July edition 22.7 and I ran the scanner. It also does an auto scan on Sonar application start.
Sounds like it should be working. I might try an uninstall and re-install.

Before uninstalling, try running a VST reset.

Reset and scan are the SONAR plug-in equivalent of peanut butter and jelly (or Scotch and soda, if you're so inclined).

Just to update everyone (in case other people are looking at the same issue) this solution did partially work for me. I was able to make some progress - so thanks for the suggestion. I had rescanned plugins before but I'd never done the full reset and this made the difference. I got Sonar to register Beatscape and it appeared in my soft synths and I was able to load the plugin. Where it didn't work was I couldn't hear any sounds. And this is where I gave up. I decided I'd spent enough time trying to get it to work and so I went back to X1 for my old projects. I'll probably wait and buy a new Core i7 (or similar) laptop and use Platinum going forward.

Thanks for all the help.

I encountered this same issue and the VST reset fixed the original problem where Sonar wouldn't properly register the Beatscape plugin. Further, I am able to hear the sounds on my setup. The only (minor) inconvenience I am facing is that the patches I had assigned with each of the pad triggers do not load properly. So, I had to reassign them and then save the updated project in Platinum. Not sure why this fails but it may have something to do with the fact that my original Beatscape projects were saved in a 32-bit version of Sonar X1 (or maybe X2) and my Platinum projects are all 64-bit. It would be nice to understand why this happens but I guess I can live with the workaround.

There is no difference between projects created in 32bit and 64bit SONAR. There are updates to the project format from time to time though. Beatscape was notoriously buggy. I have not messed with the synth for some time and did not bother to install it on my current machine.

This may be irrelevant; but, make sure you are installing Beatscape in the correct hard drive.  I had a sinmilar problem because I installed on the C drive instead of the F Drive ...  the default drive for my Platinum files.

Sonar Platinum, HP Z210 Desktop PC,  Windows 10  64 Bit, 12  GB RAM,  Steinberg UR22 Interface Unit,  M-Audio Keyboard Studio USB MIDI Keyboard, APEX-TK -Condenser Unidirectional MIC, Audio Technica AT2020 USB MIC

Anyone encounter a comparable issue with Kinetic 2? The VST reset solution doesn't appear to work with that plugin. Thoughts?

Though I am still hoping to hear if someone has gotten Kinetic 2 to work/open with recent versions of Sonar, I was able to work around my problem by importing the relevant patches from the Kinetic 2 install folder directly into my Sonar project.
