An observation about simple instrument tracks and automation

Seems a bit of a pain to have to separate a simple instrument track into audio/MIDI just to access the automation for things like arpeggiator on/off. Couldn't they just have all of those parameters accessible from an instrument track, and separate any lanes to their respective audio/MIDI tracks if the user separates the track? I'm liking the convenience and neatness of instrument tracks, but it seems like it doesn't bring everything with it, for instance you lose the interleave button as well.
