And pretty much as tragic is that a lot of those folks who aren't obese are often:
 
1: Putting so much junk and chemical products in their body that, as ripped and muscular as they are, they're practically as unhealthy as their obese fellows.
 
2: Eating just as bad as the obese folks - "luckily" for them, their metabolism just overcompensate. But the damage inside is still there. Unfortunately, lots of people seem to only care about the damage when it's apparent, i.e., when they start putting on weight.
 
3: Eating supposedly healthily but their relation w/ food becomes practically as unhealthy as anorexics or bulimics and, furthermore, would need nothing so direly as the stuff they are on a crusade against - a bit of red meat and a bit of fat.
 
Many vegans and a few vegetarians I know fall into that last category - they spend their day trying to find vegan alternatives to every little thing and convince the world that being vegan is the awesomest thing.
 
My guess is they do that to forget how depressive and miserable and weak their really are the rest of the time - lots of them have indeed been diagnosed with depressive natures and have to take pills to even just put up with day to day life.
 
At any rate, it's pretty hard to maintain a healthy relation w/ food. I include myself among those struggling to keep things balanced.
