Andalusian Plains Instrumental Spanish Gtr
https://soundcloud.com/orygun/andalusian-plainsI went to a Spanish guitar concert by the Romeros and I was blown away. This is my version of a Spanish guitar tune but I included some strings and a trumpet. Thanks for listening. That sounded quite nice Bjorn, though I did wonder if there was a little to much reverb on the guitar synth.

Thanks Wookie. Yeah I was wondering the same thing about the guitar reverb. I didn't have any effects on that track but still it's there. I should try another guitar

Does the guitar synth have a built in reverb?

Good show, Bjorn. You don't overdo it mix-wise and that's the key to this I think. I liked the tremolo on the horn tails, that helps the realism. When are they going to make a Mariachi VST??? Did you ever see that animated movie "Puss in Boots" or whatever it was called? Your piece would fit in well with something like that. For a crit, I felt it had a bit of "meandering theme" going on. Like the whole thing was an improv rather than a strongly developed theme. And that observation is not really a criticism, as it turns out, 'cause I liked it a lot anyway! cheers, -Tom

Wookie - the guitar does have its own reverb, but it was turned off. A different preset might work better.
Tom - boy you're good. You picked up on some drum mistakes I'd made in a couple of previous songs and now you mention the meandering theme. Yep, and I was aware of that. I wanted a haunting, mysterious Spanish guitar phrase to build on but I just didn't find it. I guess the meandering is me plunking the keyboard hoping to hit on something.

Yeah, very nice indeed Bjorn I don't mind the meandering theme at all... Kind of ambient, if you know what I mean I like how the lead guitar and trumpet talk to each other... cheers andy

LOVE the composition Bjorn - music to daydream to. Mix/master wise - too much compression overall - it just seems a bit 'squeezed'

Listening to well played Spanish guitar is a treat. I can understand why the concert inspired you. I think this piece captured a certain atmosphere that one would expect from a Spanish guitar piece. The mood is haunting and the guitar work is performed nicely. Not over done at all, but that is really not what the mood would call for anyway. I like it. Dean

Wow, this is different for you! Obviously you were inspired... I like the piece, it comes across well as you intended. I do agree with Daryl though, the overall mix seems a bit over-compressed and IMO could use to breathe a little more. I think the added dynamics would suit the mood.

The guitar is really evocative and sets the atmosphere very well with the modes you chose. The easy-going structure reminds me of siestas and not having to be anywhere in particular at any special time - a feeling you'd only get in the Mediterranean - what a treat to experience that feeling! Way to go and thank you, bjornpdx! LJ

I think that you have really captured a Spanish feel to this number. I think that you have created a good interplay between the horns and guitar. Add my vote to those that like the kind of laid back meandering. Very nice indeed!!!
