Android phone as drum pad -> Sonar 2?

Obviously not planning to upgrade to later Sonar version but V2 doesn't seem to want me to record from vst instruments. When I just want to record a rhythm or something seems to me it would be ideal to plug an android phone into the USB and tap out on the phone. Damned if I can find anything with web searches, is there a solution? Seems an obvious enough requirement. I know there are usb -> midi adaptors, but seems should be unnecessary extra...

If you are talking about SONAR 2 and not X2 there were no Android devices when it came out.  I know I bought SONAR 7 in 2008.

    It's Bass, not Bass.
