Angry rant

Despite being told i "must Buy' the new concrete limiter before january 29th for only £35 before the price goes up to full £59 and doing so (silly me) i see cakewalk are typically touting for new customers instead of looking after the loyal ones by offering all 3 pro channel modules for £69.

Great price... shame for those that already have one or two, was just about to buy the comp/expander pack for £59 but certainly wont be paying an extra £10 for something i already own.

Is there any company that does actually reward loyalty anymore?

I seriously wish companies wouldn't muck around with prices every 5 mins. Offer a lower price and stick to it and stop trying to offer perceived value when there is none.
Major fail IMHO

I think you're rant is a bit misleading.

In what way are they touting for new customers by offering the monthly special you refer to ?.
You have to own X1 Expanded before you can take up the "Pro-Channel Bundle" on the monthly special for $99 USD.

It's normal for any company to run specials, be thay weekly, monthly, or random.

    So what ?.
You were obviously happy enough at the time to buy - and it's almost always going to happen, that "New Specials" are
going to be equal or better than the last one offered.

You could have included a link to the special like Sickvision did in his  thread - he's also having a wee meltdown over pro-channel modules.

Nobody's holding guns to your heads ... and like I said, this is absolutely normal marketing practice, in pretty much all retail
markets covering a great range of products.

Take a deep breath and calm down - stress is bad for you :-)

Yes, you are totally right in what you say, i cant really complain too much, i guess im saying that some sort of crossgrade system may be fairer to all those that already own a module. Rant over. :)

Broadband/Satellite TV is the worst. They throw the kitchen sink in for new users while all the established users pay a shedload more for a shedload less. New users will eventually get stuffed by the small print and by stealth changes but they do get off to a good start. The older the customer, the worse off they are.

With DAWs, you just have to accept that to keep up you effectively buy a new DAW every 1-2 years. That's just the way it is. Specials will benefit new users the older the product gets. Cake have definitely had more fluctuating offers than ever before. This is not a bad thing though. The only thing I haven't agreed with was the Dim Pro debacle a few years back. A bit of a misjudgment by the Bakers there, where they effectively screwed a lot of buyers in one fell swoop, knowing they were going to include it in the DAW the following month, which was going to be bought by the very same people. You live and learn.

The fear of future pricing is very low in the decision making process of my purchasing habits.  As a consumer I'm in full charge of accepting the price point I'm comfortable with at a time when my desire outweighs my concerns of whether it may be less in the future or others may get a better deal than me.  As was stated, no guns were used in this production and trying to get new customers is always going to exist.

The only guarantee loyalty tends to get is discounted future upgrade pricing and tends to be the the only benefit of loyalty I expect or hope for.

i definitely can relate to that crappy feeling one gets when "the new guys get all the good deals". i do think Cakewalk does a decent job of offering good deals to loyal customers. i have taken part in awesome upgrade deals. Concrete Limiter for $10 was best purchase I made so far this year. I just upgraded to Z3ta 2 + for $34. It's a little gesture but appreciated. As someone pointed out, cable and satellite companies totally screw old customers to the point where the only time they care is when you threaten to quit.

Welcome, you had me believing it at first but I just could not really feel you had your heart in the performance. I just didn't scene any real anger and it ended so quickly. Nice for a beginner but you should work on your ranting technique.

Sickvision, the $10 deals were heavily promoted around the time CL was released. The 30% of deal on synths is active now and was included in the survey email that has been going out this week.

wizard, your gonna get miffed with a lot of pro audio companies marketing departments generally then . the trick is to try and 2nd guess em... well try to..

    a few pointers..

    1) april is new financial year here.. so people will spend their budget in march so it don't get capped the next financial year.. so thats why offers now.

    2) everyone is fighting for your xmas money + new years money .. so I save up esp. for plugins like fab filter etc.. which are a lot more normally

3)August (and holiday time) again a lean time. bargains are to be had..

    4)some even do easter sales..

5)rumours of a new version of a DAW etc.. wait they normally have a grace period, so wait back a bit.

but cakewalk being from Boston.. should give a special discount on St Patricks day , to people with Patrick in their full name ;-) (oddly one of my names is that)

the z3ta 5 bundle I haven got one of em packs.. so tricky as it wasn't cheap when I got it..

the PC thing is tricky , because some of us use a few things and would rather use the Fx as VST's as-well across with other things *OR* we have nice fx already.. it's tempting I won't deny and it's ease of access to em.

look fact is i want the intire soft tube setup for PC, but when will it end,im disturbed that the brick didnt make it it seems a perfect fit with the way it leaves a small foot print on the track fx.
where is THAT 10$ DEAL I WANT IT , IM CALLING CAKE,WAKE THEM UP.i live in boston should i just go tap on there door and wake them up and tell them i want 10$ PC upgrades all of them  for PC.  and downloaded before sunrise.
