Annoying 'click' sound at the beginning of the mixdown...??

I'm getting an annoying click sound at the very begging of mixdowns I export on SONAR X1. Even when I leave empty space in the beginning of the mix, the click is still there. Just as a test, I created a blank project with nothing in it and imported an audio file into it. I moved the audio clip ahead 1 measure, so that there is 1 measures of empty silence in the beginning before the music starts playing. I exported this, and there is a CLICK followed be 1 measure of silence, then music starts playing.

What gives??? How do I fix this? So annoying...

Try leaving some empty space at the END of the project.

What you're hearing is probably (not definitely) a reverb buffer or similar which hasn't finished emptying

I was having this problem using the PC2A leveling comp but I could here it BEFORE the mixdown. Are you using lots of compression/FX? Might be the issue. I ended up leaving comp off the master bus and then applied it in a mastering session. Even then I still had to apply more of a fade at the start to avoid it. Just a thought.

Jonesey, so your saying extend all clips so any F/X like delay and verbs have room to tail out?

Plus one to leaving space at the end - I agree with Jonesy this is almost certainly an FX issue - when / if  I get this I just trim the mixdown before export - can you not do this?

I put a volume envelope on the master bus and set it to zero output until the actual music begins. It has solved this problem for me 100% of the time. I believe it is related to certain plugins that might include reverbs but I think other things do it to. The envelope stops it completely.

Same thing kept happening to me and I did find a solution.  When I played back a project and stopped somewhere and replayed the project I got the delayed click\pop sound. When I played the project all the way through to the end until the now time marker went back to the beginning of the project, I didn't have that problem. So when I export I make sure I play the project all the way through.

Not all clips no, just one clip so that the tails have a chance to dissolve into digital silence before Sonar thinks the project has ended

Adding a node to an automation envelope is another option.   Like Bristol says, anything to extend the project's end point just past where the last delay/reverb/etc falls into silence.

I've also found that click - it can also to be a leftover reverb that gets "stuck" (technical term, there) in the memory when you stop playing the song.  A couple of times when exporting the click appears at the beginning of the file.  Since I leave a measure or two of silence in front of a song and the time now starts on the first beat, I haven't even noticed the click until I open the file in Sound Forge.
