Annoying CPU Meter At Bottom Right of Screen - Please Make It Stop Flashing

That little thing at the bottom right corner of my Sonar 8 scren keeps flashing
CPU 1
CPU 2
CPU 3
CPU 4
Circling through over and over and over.

Can I make it go back where it was and show all 4 at once?
The flashing is distracting.

Thanks.

Don't know how to make it stop flashing, but I have 8 to cycle through now, and I really prefer the Logic Pro method of letting me turn it off, and select to see all 8 at once.

    I fell your pain,

You know, 8 sounds like a lot, NOW, but:
Multicore is the future and 8 one year from now will be the middle, and two years from now will be the norm, it really will.

They actually need to rethink the way they report CPU usage.

Does that mean there's no definitve answer to the OP's question?

Can I make it go back where it was and show all 4 at once?

+1 for that - it is annoying... to be honest, I could live without seeing the actual percentage on the basis that actually if you see a line about half way across then, gee, that must be about 50% and 3/4 across, that must be about 75%. Knowing my CPU usage is 78% I could live without, except, if I mouse over it, show me in a tooltip, or something. Otherwise just a graphic indication would be fine, imho.

*LOL* I don't know Noel...I have read a lot of his informative posts over the years...The posts from him that I've read this morning lead me to believe he's taking a few vacation days (for those of you residing abroad, he's on "holiday") after enduring the incredulous amount of stress involved in getting S8 ready for release...Perhaps he decided it was time to crack open a Sam Adams or two...

To Noel: Absolutely no offense intended. I appreciate all you've done in advancing Cakewalk products to the stage they are today.

    Regards,

I've noted some flashing there but not the same thing you're reporting. The flashing I've seen is like a little white glitch that appears every now and then. Anyone else seen this?

I thought it was just mine. Now I feel less special. Yet more cared for. How paradoxical. Yet logical. yay.

for krizrox: mine is the whole little bar thingy, over and over as the cores change. Very distracting.

IF they have to make it flash, please at least use color combinations that induce hypnosis. That way our trance stuff is better.

Maybe they could do a floating style window for the CPU usage?
Or a key shorcut to show it on/off?

But then ahain. What do I care. Im still on a dual core.

    Maybe a "synch-to-tempo" option?

I see the redraw issue with the CPU display in the status bar in S8PE... Very occasionally it flashes white, which just catches my eye in the corner of the screen and is really annoying...

I don't mind the switching cores bit too much, but it does kind of make it difficult to see what is really going on..

If it really bothers you then open up an eq or other low impact FX, minimize it and drag it down so it just covers the cpu/disc meter. Voila!

In noticed te flashing on Vista 64 but not on Xp 32 bit. It may still be there but I did not notice it.

On vista however I found that if I set eh visual effects to "let windows choose" instead of for best performance. The flashing goes away. I have been running with the video enhancements turned off.

I just put a little strip of gaffers tape over it. That's what I do with all the annoying blinking lights in my life.

Flipside: dunno I would announce anywhere in public the thing about the tape and your girlfriend??!!??

Nope. It stayed the course quite well IMHBNIJKNSHO, what, for an animated sci-fi based comedy trying to follow Homer and Bart, and all...
Plus, its just not the same without the sound.....some sort of roaring, degenerating, flanging or phasing grumble/rumbling/powersaw thingy...

I just wish I could read it. Recall my reply to one of the earlier threads (on first impressions); I am running Sonar 8 maximized on a 32" LCD monitor at 1024 (as suggested by Cake!); I still can not see the numbers at all in SP8. (I could in 4.)

MAKE THAT INDICATOR width - RESCALABLE PLEASE! : )
