Annoying Changes - Tempo, Meter, etc.

Hello Forums,

Whenever I'm in a project and try to change the meter or tempo, it changes it only on that particular bar. What is the easiest way to change the tempo for WHOLE thing?

Thanks.

Use the Tempo View so you can see what you have going on in the project.  If you have any previously inserted changes, those will stay in place unless you erase them.  So you insert your new tempo - as soon as a different tempo is detected, that new tempo has to give way for what was there previously.  Just look at that view, it'll make sense - use the eraser, drawing tools etc.  And you'll see the quickest way to set one new tempo for the whole project is to erase what's there, insert the new tempo at the beginning.

If you're wanting to keep previous tempo changes but just bump them all up or down a bit - you're a bit out of luck.  That calls for re-drawing or re-inserting all of the changes.

If you go to Views - Tempo (Alt + Shift + 5) and have the tempo list active (by clicking on the box at the top at far right of the + - , then over at the far right is the list of tempos for the song.  You can change any entry by double clicking on it and entering the new tempo.  If you are just using 1 tempo throughout then drag with shift over sequential entries you don't want and hit the delete key.  You can draw your tempos in via this view as well.

For meter go to Views - Meter/Key the plus key will allow you to add a new meter at what ever measure you want it at or - will delete any unwanted ones.  You do however need to have it set at measure 1.  If you need to change the measure 1 setting just double click it.

There are other methods of accomplishing both of the above but this is likely the easiest method of seeing what is going on.
