Another Amazing G!

Well, since we are on the topic, our version (all instrumental) is over at BeSonic (http://www.besonic.com/228_South) It features guitar, mandolin, dulcimer and autoharp. Take a listen to Angel with the Mandolin as well if you like the old hymns.

mandolinpicker - I had to copy and paste your link since you've surrounded it with parentheses it won't work a link in your thread post - a better link would be easier to use for folks.

then when I got there, I clicked on Amazing Grace, but the player only played 30 seconds of the song then started over. was that what it was supposed to do? i was just getting into the mandolin!!!

I can't seem to find the song at all on the site. Please redo mandolinpicker, as I'm anxious to hear this. Thanks.

Sorry about this one fellas. I forgot that BeSonic requires registration (free) to hear the entire song. Otherwise you just get a 30-second tease.

Here are the same songs at SoundClick. Try this link http://www.soundclick.com/228south.

Sorry about the dead links before. I keep forgetting about the 'Link' button at the top of the editor box. What can I say except that I am old and I forgot a lot

Great, I'm trying to play this in soundclick, but the player just says "loading" for the last 5 minutes. The site must have traffic meltdown. I'll try again later MP.

    Robert,
Finally got thru! You did a wonderful job on this. Really pretty. I wish I knew how to play a fiddle or violin and add to this. Wonderful arrangement. I picture a few musicians in an old church setting performing this. Good job!

Sounds great to me. I particularly like the tremolo picked mandolin and the autoharp ? or is it zither ? strum. Nice collection of instruments, nice even pace and flow. Very nice. Enjoyed it.

So natural and beautifully acoustic. I can even hear breathing in some spots. It's so great to hear so many different interpretations of this classic. It goes to show how a great song or melody can be translated across time. Really great recording!

Thanks to everyone for the kind comments. We had a lot of enjoyment putting this together. Our singing is not the best in the world, so this lets us put something else out front. Besides, I like some of the older, more 'mountain' types of instruments like dulcimer and autoharp and putting them in the spotlight

For ToneCarver, the full lists of instruments is classical guitar, a standard acoustic guitar, autoharp, mountain dulcimer, and of course mandolin.

Maxprizm, you are so right about the many different interpretations of this classic. Each one is beautiful and each one helps keep this wonderful classic alive.

lhansen, I wish I could play fiddle as well. The mando is tuned exactly like the fiddle, but no frets and that bow thing equal trouble in my book

That's an excellent recording, one of those that transports you into the room with the players. Great vibe.
