Another audio problem

I just went thru Hurricane Gustave and my brain is fried.
I just installed MC4 in my computer which came with Vista and get the following error message on start up.
There are no audio devices for the current driver model on your system. Go to options/audio and choose a different driver model.
Where do I go from here?

Go to options/audio and from the drop down box choose a driver mode, it will probabily have MME and WDM as choices, to start choose MME, just to get started, later you can explore better drivers, but MME is real stable. Choose that and then close and reopen the program to set it.

I'd Seize the day but i can't quite reach it!

This means you're probably on a laptop. I get the same message followed by another that states there are no midi devices installed either....when I open MC4 without my Saffire connected.

You can take the advice given here to help you get started, but at some point you will want to look at and buy a dedicated "pro level" soundcard/interface for recording.

When using MME drivers with Vista, you may need to do this if problems occur trying to open MC:
    Please try the
attached reset utility. If that alone fails, please go to your Windows
Start Menu and click "Run". At the prompt,
    type or paste the following:

    %APPDATA%/CAKEWALK

This will open a folder in Windows Explorer. Find the folder named
"Music Creator 4". Right-click on it and choose "rename". Change
the folder's name to the following:

    "Music Creator 4 backup"

Launch Music Creator 4 again and allow it to recopy the application
    data.

Before you launch MC4. Please download this driver mode utility.
http://www.cakewalk.com/support/sonar/drivermode.zip You can use it to
launch SONAR in a different driver mode such as MME.
