This is another one from The Tribe.
It's called,   In My Dreams.

http://soundcloud.com/outbackremoterecording/in-my-dreams

I'm just getting around to mix'in the 2nd set from the Dickson Springs show.
They did six originals in this set,  I would like to get these songs mixed
the best I can for them.

I would appreciated your time to give mix critic.
I need all the help I can get.       Thanks !

I'd say if this is (1) just a live 2 track board mix (albeit well done!), at this point it's got promise. More promise the more tracks you printed. Since you have multitrack, go back and 'ride the faders til you can't get it to melt any better, then compress at track level to perfect it so it has that major label 'live cd' smooth sheen. If (2) is where you are, show us a 1st mix, so we can get 'your feel' for it. I like the tune and the vibe of the band.

Personal thoughts after 2 listens - There is room to glue this together better, IMHO. Drums are pretty dry, blend between guitars and keys needs fader balancing, as well a steady level between vox and music separation (again, faders). Since you have stereo vox harmonies, maybe copy tracks, pan them opposite and try moving them in just a bit, move them a few ms to get the doubling fx, and add something in the Roland Dimension D type of effect along with a little widening. Add verb for front/back relationship. Vox sound good, can become more 'wow, great vox' with the TLC.  A little tube sat (ex. - Fatso)would help at master, she's pretty 'clean'. All subjective, as always. Have fun!    HTH - Shep

This has a chick in it? I like chicks...

The quality of the recording is not pro? So I won't comment on the recording.

The performance is "excellent..." The LV are "awesome."

The lead guitar is quite good too? Very good in fact...

What is lacking here? Is a studio environment.... Where you can control "everything?"

In my dreams, I control everything...

The chick vocals were a bit off? Even in this "rough" mix/recording. But if she's hot enough? We can overlook such things...

Pretty good quality for live recording. Sounds almost like studio recording. Nice job.

jshep0102...........Thanks for your time and comment.
This is not just a 2 track board mix,   But it is "Very" prominent in the mix.

bandontherum19............Thank you for your time and cirtic.
It's definitely not a studio environment.  This was a outside event.
I'll elaborate a little on the recording.   We use a mackie 32ch 8buss board
going into a AlesisHD24 via DB25 cables.   I print with effects,  what
ever is in the inserts will be printed because the DB25's are post inserts.
During the show I'm usually more concerned with the live sound than the
recording.  So I have to make due with what I got.

Karalie7 .............. Thank you for you time to listen.  :)

I'll elborate more when I get time.  I don't have anything tonight so I'll be working
on this project.     We have a show from 1 to 4 at the American Legion today so
    I got to get going.

    Hey, Tim,

How's it going, buddy?  Hope you're doing great!

Very nice job so far on mixing this great song, especially for an outdoor recording job.  I don't think many people can really appreciate just how hard it is to do both a live mix outdoors and still get a good quality recording, especially while trying to keep the live mix perfect for all of the people in the venue.  As Karalie mentioned, it almost sounds like it was recorded all in one take in a studio big room, so that's definitely a good quality capture of the event.

My only minor suggestions for the final mix would be to give the low end just a little nudge to add some "oomph", and maybe add just a touch of "air" on the high end.  Remember, this is only my personal opinion, and everything in mixing is always subjective.

Anyway, excellent job on this, and the band and the song are really great, too.  Thanks for sharing, Tim.  Have a good one, buddy!

Hey Bob..........   glad you took the time to listen and comment !

The six original songs I recorded that show.   I wanted them to sound
there best, so I have sent them out to be mastered.
I did do some EQ adjustments and volume tweaks,  I took off the Multiband compressor
and limiter off the master buss.

Thanks for your time Bob...............You Rock !

Not too shabby for a live track! I'd love to be in the audience some day and her this. Sweet!

    Excellent dynamics, sir!

    Mix-wise I wouldn't touch that dial.

Sorry I can't think of any negs (studio or live).  (Those strings (keyboard?) sound dreamy enough.

TBH, this sounds most hearty and polished, AS IS.  A mastering house may be able to squeeze more life into this, perhaps; but all else seems most excellent and magical (10/10 on many levels: mix, song, lyrics, performances, etc.)
