    Hi Twig,
Nice song...got kind of a New Order vibe to it. Biggest thing that jumps out at me is the bass guitar change that happens at about 2:04. It gets really boomy all of a sudden.

Also, I'm pretty sure that the vocal effects were an artistic choice, but the vox is awfully high-passed...maybe ease off that a bit?

This song sounds very retro to me.  I get what you are going for with the vocal processed that way, but the lyrics get swamped by the f/x and the low volume of the vocal.  I think the fix is simple - turn up the vocal, turn down the f/x a bit, and I believe that you can achieve the sound you want.  That would be my starting point.  Otherwise, it's a cool song.

    All the best,
    Lynn

80's hair metal, without the hair, and er, without the metal!

Before the vox entered I was half expecting a Gabriel-esque sort of thing, but I get where you're going.

you don't want the vox to be too much louder, that haunting sound needs to be in the background.

    Everything else seems nicely balanced.

    Good work my man!!

Twigman - this style is right up my alley. Love the song, atmosphere, choice of instrumentation etc but this is what I would do. Dial the vocal effect back a tad so there's more dry less wet. Change the snare sound in the earlier section - it's overwhelming the mix in the quieter section but works great later in the song. Really like the bass chords when they kick in but, they do seem to overpower everything else. I hope someone else's ears helps - I'm not necessarily right but this is how I hear it.
    Really good stuff.

This changes everything.  I like where the vocal sits in the mix, now, and the clarity is much better.  Plus, this song is growing on me, which means it's aging well.  Nice job, Twigman.

thanks very much Lynn - I tried to listen to the criticism and I must say I'm much happier with it now too... Now to take it to band rehearsal and see what the rest of them make of it....

Ian, I didn't hear the first mix, but this is quite nice.  interesting sound on the drums - maybe a bit too much reverb for my tastes.  the strings sound good.   the highly processed vocals sound good for this song.  something's bugging me about the snare, but I can't put my finger on exactly what it is.

    very nice work.

Hmm, I thought I commented on this last time round - guess not.

I like the retro feel of this. The vocals really remind me of someone else, but I can't place it at the moment. I'm thinking it's someone else I've heard on this forum a while back, or maybe it was the same person under a different name ? Probably just a sound-alike.

I'd maybe shave a little of the end - found my attention wandering by the time it actually finished.
