Another newb question: MC6T doesn't save my external midi keyboard as an input

Does it not show up when you start the computer and open MC? 
 
Every time you open MC, it will look at the inputs available and display them in the proper category,...... audio or midi. But they have to be connected in order to show up and they must be turned on.
 
I know that my audio and midi inputs show up every time but they also stay plugged in all the time as well. I still have to select them from the list of all available inputs of that kind for each track.
