[Answered] ProChannel overload lights
I just installed PC Expanded. I am a little confused over the LED lights for the various components of ProChannel. Some lights go red when overloaded, some do not. Should all lights never be orange or red? Also, what color LED is recommended for TubeSat? I captured a piece of the Cakewalk animation from the PC Expanded web showing all these different lights. Too early to comment on this? Thanks. Rimshot Jing link: http://screencast.com/t/MGBCfpdQBK

I was just making comments about the loss of the PC "meters" on the input strips... Now replaced with a single meter that reads the loudest peak of all devices in the PC if I understand what was explained to me... Obviously having asomewhat unlimited number of modules made discrete module monitoring impossible (?) on the input strip... So this was chosen in it's place... I think they should have left the three meters and allowed the user to choose which device to assign to each meter.... But who am I to offer suggestions... ;-) Keni

Hi Keni, I meant the LED's on PC, not within the chain. I hear your point though but I am trying to understand the LED's on the main PC strip first. Rimshot

Sorry... I understand and would love to hear some answers to your questions as well... I was a bit wired to my thoughts as I had just finished chatting with a cake rep about the issue I mentioned... I didn't mean to de-rail your post, only to confirm that there are meter issues with Expanded... Sorry... Keni

No worries. I hope CW can comment. I don't think this is a hard question but I can't find any help on this anywhere (yet anyway!). Rimshot

I was faced with a choice at a difficult age Would I write a book? Or should I take to the stage? But in the back of my head I heard distant feet Che Guevara and Debussy to a disco beat

The leds are rough indicators. Only so much you can do with a single dot :) Reddest color is held momentarily to indicate 0dBFS or higher (due to float values) Orange is approx -1.5 dBFS Yellow is approx -6 to -12 dbFS YellowGreen is approx -12 dbFS to -18dbFS Down from there is dimmer versions of Green. Can't really see much of it past -48dbFS. Hope that helps. Don't get too hung up on the level points. Also they are latency independent now. Previously they were not. So that means you see it light up when you hear it as opposed to when it gets the signal. Keith

Thanks Keith... That helps, but I think there's a question as to some of them not showing color changes when driven to overload... Let's see if Rimshot can shed some light on this? BTW... Nice to have them latency independent for sure! Keni

Thanks Keith, I notice that the Saturation knobs LED goes to orange (not red)and it doesn't track like the LED at the top of it's window by the on/off button. Up there, the LED seems to glow a little more toward red than the knob. The PK4 Gate doesn't seem to get to red at all. It looks like there may be different colors indicating overload based on the module? On my system, it seems that way. It would be great if the LED's overload colors were consistant throughout. Maybe a feature request? Rimshot

The metering code for each module is identical. By that I mean the led in the header where the module power button is. There is no difference in metering nor in the source bitmap used. It's central code. Feed the same source material to each module enabled one at a time and see for yourself. Keith

Hi Keith, Thanks for your reply. I can overload PC EQ and the PC4K modules and see "red" on the LED. I cannot overload Softube and see "red" but only "orange". Should I see "red" on Softube overload?

I definitely see it turn red on softube. Crank the input gain on a track high enough with a loud enough audio signal and it should turn red.
