Any EZdrummer users in X1 or X2

I know this is probably in the wrong forum, but Sweetwater have a 50% off sale on EZX.

They do this from time to to time.

I highly recommend the Nashville, Classic, Claustrphobic and Twisted kits.

Post back if you ar interested.

Don't tempt me!  I've just upgraded to X2 and don't have anything left for more drums.  I have EZD and invested in the Funk kits (I tend to use the Jabo one a lot).  Very impressed with EZD - sounds and midi patterns are all excellent, and the VSTi is totally stable.  Far better than Session Drummer imo.

I know what you mean - but £25-ish is a bit hard to ignore.

I'm tempted by the Jazz, funk and Vintage rock.

I highly recommend the Nashville - fantastic toms.  Don't be put off by the name, it's not just for country.  I picked the the Twisted and claustrophobic for fifteen quid from timespace.com on specials.  If you're not on their mailing list - get on it.  I didn't think I'd use the Claustrophobic much, but it's a killer - really cuts through in a mix.

Hey,JB. Don't forget to pick up the Latin Percussion EZX. It is a must have if you use any percussion. I use Superior and I am very happy with the drum librarys but it dawned on me that there is not so much as a maraca in there. I use 2 instances of Superior, one loaded with the drum kit, and another loaded with the latin library. The LP is well worth the price.

Thanks, Sidroe, I have been contemplating that one as well.  What to do.  I can afford to get them, but could I afford the ensuing divorce?

@Sidroe - I think Latin should be my next purchase, but a quick thought on maracas - I've always recorded them live with real maracas - it's amazing what a difference it can make to the feel.  The same is usually true for tamborines, too. But I'd still like all the other stuff - congas etc.  More cowbell..

@ tbosco - I don't have those, so can't really comment except to say you can never have enough drums..

I agree with the use of the real instruments and I do have and use congas, shakers, maracas, etc, but sometimes I find myself working in someone else's studio that doesn't have any LP at all. It sure is nice to pull up a track on the laptop and get jungle for a while. LOL!

A bit off topic, but I have a drummer coming over today to use a Roland Octapad with EZ drummer. I have it setup with a midi track and stereo outs. 8 audio tracks and one midi. Should I use mono outs? and after I'm happy how do I make all 9 tracks one audio track? I would assume I would still freeze track 9 (midi) and bounce it to get an audio track. Thanks and sorry for interupting the thread.

Personally when I record electronic drums, I do not record using EZD as an output at all.  I just record the MIDI from the drum head and use the output of the drum head connected to a monitor for the drummer.  that way I get ZERO latency for the drummer - which is very important.

I only add EZD after the recording has been done and I start mixing.

no muss, no fuss.  no worrying about outputs during recording.

I agree Sidroe...the latest project I've been working on has a "Hit Factory" drum track and an LP perc track.  You can get a fairly natural feel by playing the perc track with a keyboard.

I bought the Superior Drummer/New York Studios package from Audio Deluxe...then later on bought the Nashville and Latin percussion EZX.  Haven't used the Nashville set on a project yet...but definitely plan on it.  I would say that my favorite set so far is the Hit Factory set....love the kick and snare.

I don't ever have latency issues with Ez drummer. I'll figure it out tonight i guess. I just thought with this thread someone would know and it would save a possible mistake. Anyhoo to be more helpful to the thread I would say +1 to nashville, vintage, classic, jazz and I like the standard kit a lot too. I need to buy latin perc and funk masters.

I personally use stereo tracks, but I can see mono might give more flexibility.  I don't think there is a need to bounce them to an audio track, necessarily.  Route them to a drum buss, or several drum busses.

Sorry for late reply, busy day..

Thanks, sounds like we are setting it up the same way. What I meant by the bouncing to audio is...If I export the midi track without making it an audio track, there is no sound. So I'm thinking it must be done at some point, with the changes made on the individual tracks (volume, comps, eqs). Is that wrong? Thanks for the input.

When you export - audio, make sure "entire mix" or some such is checked, or the Synth tracks and midi track are selected, and it will bounce to audio.  Are you just exporting the drum part to use elsewhere, or are you talking about exporting the finished song/project?

Yeah the finished song to burn on cd. Exporting as a wav. Do I bounce the midi track to convert to audio? Will that keep the adjustments made on the individual tracks?

When you export, just select "Entire mix" or "What you hear", or whatever your main outs are called, and it will bounce to wav everything that comes out of your monitors.  It seems to be different for each interface.

On my SPS-66 I either choose "Entire Mix", or "Main Out SPS-66 1&2" if I've been running a cue mix or some such to "SPS-66 3&4" and "SPS-66 5&6".

Has the drummer been round?  How did it go?

Listened briefly to some of your Soundcloud tracks, and quite enjoyed them.

Thumbs up on the Nashville kit, too,Ted's! As stated by several others, the Nashville kit fills many roles. I used it for a lot of rock tracks as well. That is, before I got the Lost Studios N.Y. SDX. The Nashville really fills a lot of voids if you only have one or two of the librarys. You could probably be very well satisfied just with that one kit and nothing else. It is just that good, in my opinion. I have amassed a pretty good sized Toontrack library over the last couple of years, but I seem to always lean back to the N.Y. and Nashville and a little of The Classic in combination with the LP. Those pretty much cover everything that I need in the material that I write.

I definitely like the Nashville, for all styles of music - Rock, Jazz, Pop, Blues..

I also like the Classic, but have had a strange problem recently - it seems to be a lot "Quieter" than the others.  I'm starting to think it's  been somehow corrupted on my system, as I don't remember it being that way.  I struggle to get it heard without clipping.

I was really surprised by the Claustrophobic.  I only got it because TimeSpace were doing it for £15.  I love it. It really cuts through, and, because it was recorded so dry, you can do a lot to it, too.

I also love the Twisted kit.  It may not be to everyone's taste, but has inspired many ideas for me, and has been used far more than I expected.

@sidroe - I do think I'll have to get the LP.  Do you have the Claustrophobic or Twisted - I would welcome your thoughts.
