Any Guesses?
From a Cakewalk e-mail I just got: Big announcements at Musikmesse next week Cakewalk is preparing for the big Musikmesse show next week in Frankfurt, Germany and we have some huge announcements that are once again going to shake up the music industry. In addition, we are pleased to announce that SONAR 8 has been nominated for a MIPA in the Recording Software category and SONAR V-Studio 700 has been nominated in the Recording Hardware category.

A Boss chorus pedal with Sonar 8 PE built in? What's a MIPA? I hate abbreviations!

Well, IIRC Messe means market, but I forgot what Musik was, again.

male hormones Careful now, or we get more steroid spammers. I don't even dare to say Boost11 any more. I even hope they don't zap my video threads by mistake. OT: not a clue - been doing the rounds for some gossip, but it's very slim pickings, and nothing CW. Maybe they are going to showcase that network protocol dingus (if they haven't already, not been keeping close tabs on the R&D).

Not to be confused with "MusicMess", which translated literally means "any popular music produced after 1990, or thereabouts". And why am I not getting these emails? I've subscribed and unsubscribed and resubscribed and reunsubscribed... still no emails from caketown. Maybe their "big announcement" is they've fixed they're email distribution system. Hmm... sounds ominous. Maybe they're buying some smaller plug/instrument vendor... joining forces... being bought outright... who knows. It could be either really good, or really bad.

Not to be a regular downer here (honestly, I love Sonar), but if the groudbreaking announcement has anything to do with the 700, it'll be a yawn for me.

I though Musik was that subliminal noise they play in the shopping mall? sudo music with "buy buy buy" embedded in it? Or is that something else?

They are going to migrate the Home Studio 7 format to Sonar 9. That should shake things up.

Hmm. So my suggestion seems to be the only sensible one here in the Coffee House. If it says Roland on the outside it has to have some noise making capability of its own is all I would guess. I'll pop back over to P&S and see what's happening.

It will be the, err!, um!, "Good Omnipotent beings" (not wishing to offend) answer to DAW recording. But it will be the "Evil Omnipotent beings" (not wishing to offend) something??? It will be Yellow with Red, Blue and Green polka dots in the shape of clouds. It will smell of Chocolate with a hint of strawberries and cream. People will love it and people will hate it, some will do nothing but hail its brilliance and others will do nothing but whinge. We will all need it but never use it. I have a friend who's performing at MusikMesse. He normally hangs out in the guitar sections and has little interest in software, but if he's answering his cell phone I'll ask him to check the Cakewalk booth and see what's up. Here's an article that may give away the secret.
