Any One Here Use n-Track?

I tried the demo but found it full of bugs and weird behavior. Some of that is BIDS "Built-In Demo-Sabotage", but so many functions don't work right so I can't tell what's BIDS and what's BUGS.

1st, BIDS is random mayhem: audible tone, pitch changes, etc.

Loop function doesn't work.

The entire screen will start rolling as the time line continues moving.

The worst demo experience I've ever had. I sent more time trying to figure out the mayhem instead of using the program.

If they really want you to see how their software works, they're doing a very poor job.

On the + side, the 15 day limit seems to last beyond 15 days.

I am a bit of a DAW slut.

I own the lesser-known ones like Mixcraft, MultiTrack Studio Pro and Podium.  All solid and excellent in their own way.

Though I've been aware of n-Track for a long time, I've never even installed it on my system.  Unlike the others I've mentioned, there were YEARS when it had a terrible reputation for stability.  To me that says something about the dev's abilities (or priorities), so I've stayed far away.

I tried it once years ago.  Meh.

A recent one I installed to help a collaborator that uses it is Tracktion.  The UI and object naming were a bit funky, but the free version 4 is quite capable.  They have recently released version 5 as a freebie, but it appears to be 32 bit whereas 4 is 64 bit.

My first DAW was Cakewalk Pro 8, which I quickly upgraded to PA9 as soon as it was released.  I got bummed post 8.5 and went to Reaper until the end of X3.  I still keep Reaper up to date, but Sonar got really sweet over the course of '15 so it's what I use the most.

Other than Sonar and Reaper I don't really take any others seriously.  I've tried the Cubase lite versions that came with hardware.  Yuch.  I tried S1-3 Artist that was a freebie with something or other.  Yuch.  Very crashy for me.

It takes me a really long time to get half-way proficient with rich feature sets, so I honestly don't have the time or desire to invest in keeping up with anything else.  Maybe if I felt like Sonar was holding me back I would have an unsatisfied longing  ;)

Thanks. I will withhold the $50 entry fee then.

I don't but do have an engineer (and amazing drummer) friend that does.

I think he uses it as a basic "tape" style recorder and adds basic effects.  He says it works well for him.

He records jazz and captures good sound going in and not a whole lot of manipulation in the box.

I tried to talk him into Sonar, but realistically the $50 he spent on it a while ago was probably a fair fit for how he uses it.
