Any chance of getting action binding like Reaper?
Select any program action from a list, or create your own custom string of actions, and bind any input to it. Simple to do, and powerful. What do you think the chance Cakewalk will implement this? Zero percent? Sonar seems really behind the times in this regard. This is one of the main reasons I am very hesitant to purchase X1, no improvement on this front.

I have been asking for a macro language for years. Can't say if they are thinking about it or not.

You can still write and run CAL scripts, but of course, that's absolutely no fun whatsoever. I think a simple in built action recorder would be a great feature, yeah.

CAL's really not a user-friendly thing at all. I recall that there used to be some basic ability to record cal scripts from actions, but I think it was fairly cranky, and it disappeared quite some time ago, largely unlamented. What the OP is talking about, I think, is more like the way, say, Photoshop does it, which is great. There's an "actions" view with a record button. You press record, do whatever you like in the main program, then press stop. You've then got a single click action doing for whatever you like. An extra browser tab would be an obvious place for these things to live.

CAL is great but as you say it has not been updated. But more importantly, it works with MIDI not audio. Plus CW took out the Cal editor from Pro Audio when they introduced Sonar.

Yeah CAL is extremely unfriendly, and to the best of my knowledge you can't bind a CAL script to a CC. The way Reaper does it, and I'm sure other programs, is the way to go. Any action or group of actions can be bound to any keyboard key, MIDI key or CC. I'm looking at external programs to handle my needs, but that's kind of a crappy workaround. Sonar has so much good going for it, but its binding and macro ability needs a serious overhaul. It may sound trivial to some but it's one of the most frustrating things about Sonar for me.

Autohotkey is a free macro program. It takes some study but it's worked well for me.

Are there any macro programs that will trigger from a CC? I don't want to use keyboard shortcuts, I want to make use of my NanoKontrol.

I doubt it. Not that it's technically impossible - it would require a third-party tool to hook into the MIDI data stream and then insert keystrokes into the keyboard buffer. Maybe you could convince Jamie O'Connell, the fellow who created MIDI Yoke, to write it.
