Any experiences with the Saffire 6 USB IO and Sonar?

Hey all.

My guitarist wants to get an entry level IO w/ sonar to start being able to record his own guitar tracks for shooting over ideas.

We're looking for a cheap (as in as little as possible) IO that will provide 2 inputs with low latency processing (max 5ms for guitar rig processing).

The Sapphire 6 looks like a decent little personal interface. Any thoughts?

I've used the Maudio fastrack and it's absolute garbage, so that's off my list.

Cheers!

The saphire is a great card. It Weill have better preamps and converters than the m audio.
The latency has allot of variables to it, but if you have a decent pc, you should be able to get way below 5 secs one way and round trip should be well under 11 secs.

Rad! I figured as much, but I wanted to make sure.

He's got a dual core 2.8 ghz machine with 4 GB ram. I think it should be able to keep up. I'm going to format it, put Win7 on it and go from there.

    Thanks for the input.

I actually own this as a backup.  Thje only problem I have with it is it will not allow me to hook up my midi controller and it at the same time.  If they have any novation controllers they want to ryn they will not be able to do so while using the safire

I've been using a Novation Nocturn 49 with the Saffire 6 USB for about 8 months..... not a single issue to report. Both pieces of hardware are rock solid with Win 7 x64.

I've seen that incompatibility statement before....  but it hasn't been my experience.

Must not be all novation gear.  I know for a fact it's incompatible with the xio synth.  This was verified by focusrite tech support.

Thanks for the feedback. Seems like a lot of positive things about the sapphire.

Yeah....  I'm pretty sure I've also seen Novation Tech Support confirm what your saying. Could it be that the Xio has it's own built-in audio interface? Why would you use a Saffire 6 USB with a XioSynth?
