Any expert audio snap/quantise and transiant users out there care to help?

Hi

I'm having real trouble trying to quantise by bass part.  My picking is a little in front and a little behind the beat in a few spots.

I have watched the tutorials and applied the techniques using audiosnap but it is just not working for me.

Does anyone offer a service whereby I can send you my bass and kick drum wav files and you can fix it up for me?

I'm happy to pay for someone to screen capture what you do in X1 so that I can learn how to fix it for next time.

Really appreciate it if someone can help!.

Cheers

Are you trying to quantise the bass part to the kick drum? If so............

    1. Enable audiosnap on both tracks
    2. Select the kick drum track and then right click.
    3. Select Pool->add clip to pool
    4. Select bass track, right click select Pool->Quantise to pool
    5. Adjust settings and click okay.

If that doesn't give the results you want you may need to adjust transient markers in the tracks.

Karl, I think he is only talking of quantising each part to global.

HTH, you need to set your transient markers first to 8th's or 16th's (whatever) before you audio quantise.  You need to look at the other settings (strength/offset, etc.) also.  Try just a small section of 4 bars first until you get the hang of it.

Ah, okay. In that case add the M:B:T to pool and then apply that to all of the tracks.

Personally with something like Bass I prefer to use Audio Snap to split the recorded clip into separate clips for each transient (i.e. one clip per note) and align the bass with the kick drum manually. It's usually easy to do and feels better to me. It does take more time than using AudioSnap to quantize if you get it working using advice from others here. Peace, Tunes

Another way to go  is, with the track highlighted, in your Edit Filter select "Transients"

Sonar will build all your transients and you can start manually pulling/pushing them to where you want.
Switch Snap on and make sure it's set to the desired quantize setting

I personally never use the automatic quantising. I much prefer doing it by hand dragging transients. It's more painstaking, but I think you can et better results. For one thing, some "out" notes *should* be out, depending on the overall musical context.
