Any interesting things to do in Columbus Ohio?
I'll been in Columbus for a couple days and may have just an hour two of free time in the evening. Is there any sight to see that shouldn't be missed? Thanks, mike

I'd be taking a drive out in the surrounding countryside...things must be getting a bit greener now..

We are into late spring down here in Florida. It has been a great season for flowers. It is already getting hot. I asked about good food in San Antonio and was actually at my hotel before I figured out the Alamo was just 5 blocks away. I enjoyed walking over to the Alamo. I'm wondering if there is anything unique in Columbus. best regards, mike

IIRC Dayton is about 1 1/2 hours from Columbus and the Air Force Museum there is fantastic if you're into that kind of thing. I've been once and it was really cool. make sure you see both facilities, tho, one facility is across the street or something like that. http://www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/

I'd like to do that... but I may only have 1-1/2 hours spare time total. We work 10 hour days and then have to eat and sleep. A quick trip from the hotel is about all I can hope for. Thanks for the heads up... I'd really enjoy that museum.

There must be someone in Columbus who is using X1 with no problems. Would that be interesting to see?

It's probably too far for you--like the Air Force Museum--Canton is also in driving distance. The football hall of fame is there.

No being from Ohio I can confirm nothing of interest in Columbus. I'd drive over to party with you but it's pretty far and I promised myself I never had to drive in Columbus again. If you're into roller coasters, I think you're pretty close to Kings Islands some really great ones there as well.

Now this I would look at. Sounds very interesting along side of the Vineyards Olentangy Indian Caverns 1799 Home Road, Delaware, Ohio (740) 548-7917 Formed millions of years ago by the tremendous force of an underground river, the Olentangy Indian Caverns were thought to have been used by the Wyandotte Indians as a haven from the weather and their enemies, the Delaware Indians. Descend 105 feet below the surface of the earth and explore the winding passages of this three level cave. Bring your climbing legs for this 30 minute tour which is a great way to beat the summer heat in the cave's constant 54 degree temperature. Local Indian lore, a frontier town, gem mining, 18-hole miniature golf course, climbing wall and gift shop are also part of the Olentangy Indian Caverns experience. Open April-October. Call or check the website for hours. Thats bout my extent Mike, Hope ya find something

As you can see if you want to see anything interesting, you sure are in the wrong place. If you can't get out of the city, all I can suggest is get a lounge chair and some beer and find one of those little tiny patches of nature with one tree that they somehow missed paving over and enjoy this sunny day.

Oh geez... Columbus, eh? So sorry. Have to tell you that Kings Island and Cedar Point are both at least 2 hours from Cols, in different directions. I've never been to the Caverns... Would suggest hitting High Street for some interesting OSU student population viewing, bars, clubs, art. That's about all there is. I KNOW this. I LIVED this. What's worse, is that I would escape my hometown (an hour from Cols) by gong to Columbus. Oh. The. Humanity.

Oh! Wait! The Franklin Park Conservatory is really nice, and you could do it in an hour and a half... Chihuilly glass orbs floating throughout the conservatory lat time I was there (7years ago). But it's lovely. If you like plants. :)

I have to say... the comments about Columbus seem sincere, and I know they are coming from reasonable people.... NOW I"M SCARED TO GO!!!! I guess I'll just have to enjoy myself at work. :-) I'll probably just enjoy the big buildings and such... that sort of stuff can be interesting to a country boy who lives in a shack out in the woods. Thanks for the tips and suggestions. best regards, mike
