I let mine upgrade this afternoon (I have Win 10 Professional so I can switch updates on or off) based on being able to roll back easily. So far tonight, not a glitch, it seems all good. Garry Kiosk

Not sure if it was related but after my Win 10 updated one of my 2 TB drives 'disappeared'. It reappeared after a restart.
i7 2600k, 1 x Nvidia 970 + 1 x 560ti, 16GB RAM, 5TB of Spinning Thingys, Focusrite Liquid Sapphire 56 + lots and lots of cables. Sooo many cables.. I think they are breeding.

Thx guys.
Dl'ing it now to one of my non-music partitions so I can beat it up there before I decided to put it on my studio box.

Well I def ran into probs. Specs - i7, 16 gig RAM, UAD-2, 4 1 TB HD's After the November Update I started up SPLAT and it really took a LONG time to come up. I have various UAD and Slate plugs set up in my template and here is where the probs began. Firstly I got a message that "The iLok service could not be started...." (my Slate plugs are iLok and I've never had an issue before this). Secondly my UAD monitor applet started saying there was no UAD hardware installed even though I could plainly see it in Device Manager. Also SPLAT started complaining that there was no UAD h/w installed (I had a few plugs in my template) UGH. Downloaded and re-installed all the Slate plugs AND new iLok manager. No change. Dammit. Downloaded and re-installed mu UAD stuff - No change. Dammit again. Then I started - or tried to start - Wavelab. Something to the effect of "Unable to start as its not licensed"....Screw this... Backed out of the new build and back to the version I had previously (luckily W10 lets you do that fairly easily) and all the issues went away. By then it was 0200 and time to call it a night. I'm gone for the next few days and will try again at a later date... Interested to hear how everything went for those of you with UAD, Wavelab and any iLok plugs....

Not on Windows 10 yet, but there was another update last night. When there are two days of updates in a row like that, it may indicate the second is fixing issues with the first?

Yeah, I have Win 10 Pro as well. I like being able to stop the auto downloads/updates in their tracks with the Pro version. I haven't updated anything Win 10 Pro related in months. I will probably do the cumulative TB2 update this weekend, as I can easily roll it back if there are any issues. I do have a lot of UA hardware (PCIe cards/Apollo), plug-ins and iLok 2 (Slate, Lexicon, etc.). I am not anticipating any issues, but we'll see how it goes...... Cheers, Billy Buck

This is one of the main reasons I took my Windows box off line. I may not have the latest updates (the overwhelming majority of which are security issues related to internet connections), but my system is stable. When you have stuff that needs to be done, there is something to be said for a machine that you know is stable and didn't update itself overnight (cause you can't control updates in the 'Home' edition). It will work the same today as it did yesterday and will tomorrow.

Actually my studio box is offline and I only go online for updates and such. I also wouldn't *trust* any unattended update.
Unfortunately I'm leaving shortly for a brief road trip so cannot troubleshoot what happened until next week.

Hi to all, I did take the move, basically because I have an old m-audio 1010lt interface which I was sure would not work. Boy was I wrong. Everything upgraded nicely. Win 10 must have pulled the win 7 drivers and accommodated for them. Here we go with a new learning curve. I did have to update some plugs, but all seem to be working now. Haven't done extensive testing, but all appears to be good. Some older projects had to be located, but that was probably due to ' pilot error ' in the first place. I have the home edition, but usually disable internet in device manager when using studio. Win 10 seems to be on the road to apple with more social networking. I like the new way it displays all sonar work(OK, most of it) in what used to be the lower left bullet button. Now a window that opens a lot categories for easy access. I am happy so far. MJ

Hey Greg, I had the exact same situation "No Devices Found" happen to me after installing "TB2". I went ahead and installed the latest so-called "TH2" Win 10 update that was released this week and it hosed my working UAD/Apollo system. After the Win update and requisite re-boot the UAD Control Panel shows "No Devices Found" (I have two internal PCIe cards and an Apollo Quad via Thunderbolt). No amount of uninstalling/re-installing the UAD software (I did it 4 times over two hours) will bring the UAD cards and Apollo back. Curiously, everytime I installed the UAD/Apollo software I would get a Microsoft pop-up dialog (see yellow circle in screen capture) stating that I need to do a "required" re-boot. FYI, I have installed literally hundreds of UAD updates over the past (12) years (since 2003) using Win XP, Win 7, Win 8, Win 8.1 and even Win 10 until this latest "TH2" update and have never encountered an MS install dialog "during" a UAD software install. So after I do the MS required re-boot, the UAD devices are no longer found by the UAD software. It is almost like the UAD install triggers some nefarious MS activity that disables the UAD devices. After (4) separate attempts of uninstalling/re-installing the UAD software and getting the same MS pop dialog and subsequent "No Devices Found" each time I re-boot, I gave up and reverted back to the previous MS Win 10 build I had, before I installed "TH2". As soon as I re-booted from the Win 10 Recovery mode (great Win 10 feature by the way), all of my internal UAD PCIe cards and Apollo connected via TB showed back up and started working as expected. I'll be staying with my working pre-TH2 Win 10 build for now.

Firstly I'm sorry you got bit by the same issue, Secondly I thank you for validating my experience. I also rolled back the build to my previously working W10 and will keep an eye out for comments from Universal Audio. Btw - did you have any ilok issues (if you use any ilok plugs) ?

No iLok issues here, Spaces and UltraChannel seem pleased with themselves and the iLok license manager runs fine. Only issue I had was my consumer soundcard getting fussy, but that was kinda to be expected as it is not supported in Windows 10 and required a bit of modded drivers to work right. The pro card (Focusrite) hasn't complained. I haven't tested things extensively, but Sonar loads and plays projects as normal and the couple games I've tried run without issue.

That is more for Computers section, but the first question is where the problem with this disk is. The number of variants is limited: 1) just temporary software failure (easy to solve) 2) SATA<->USB part has problems (easy to solve) 3) SATA controller (on disk) has problems (normally hard/impossible to solve without pro service, but sometimes possible) 4) some part of the disk has electrical/mechanical problems (usually possible to recover undamaged part) 5) the disk is completely broken (impossible to solve without pro service, in most cases impossible to solve at all). Any computer specialist can find the answer on this question within 10-60 minutes, assuming he/she has physical access to that disk and you agree to void the warranty for it (after checking (1), the second operation will be removing the disk from the enclosure).

I had a problem on one of my other machines, running Windows 10, with the iLok service not running with the consequence of my iLok plugs would not run. I contacted iLok support and they suggested that I change the iLok start-up to delayed in Windows config start-up. This cured the problem.

Billy, I'm sure you've tried this... but have you uninstalled/reinstalled the TB drivers for the motherboard? With some audio and MIDI hardware, installing the driver using Win7 or Win8 compatibility mode worked. ie: Prior to a proper Win10 driver, this worked for Machine Studio and Komplete Kontrol.

I've just applied the Windows 10 "Fall Update". Addictive Drums 2 thinks my computer has changed to the point where it says that "There is an authorization problem" and "please run the installer" (My project played back OK, but I'm not confident that will be the case for much longer, without some kind of intervention.) When I run the XLN Online Installer, it says "You currently have your maximum amount of active computers. Remove old unused computers if you need to register a new computer." Both "slots" - apparently you can register two computers - are the same physical machine. I think I used up the second slot when I re-installed AD after I upgraded to Windows 10 from Win 7, a few months ago. One of them is labelled "Windows 10 64-bit", the other is "Other/don't know". I'm going to try "removing" the computer in the second slot, and see if AD magically becomes authorized on this computer. UPDATE: The XLN Installer allowed me to re-register the PC, then asked to update the Installer app itself, then said 1 item needed updating: "XLN Cloud Sync". I don't know or care what that is, but it only took a few minutes. My project now opens without warning messages.

Also : * iTunes hosed, can no longer sync (error 54 - permissions or summat) * certain devices re-installed * W Explorer needed to passes/reboots to index everything * took 12 hours to download (i live in a village far from the madding crowd) * networking seems to be very sluggish - internet speeds way down
And thats starters for 10.
Not a particularly happy camper so far.

Cheers. Jerry
None of this looks like bugs. Areas of the OS are getting reset (probably for a good reason) and cache is obviously been reset. It should speed up after a few days.. Anyway glad I have windows update set to defer. Much more interesting to read it than experience it. Also very glad I'm still not using it for my DAW.
