Any one have a set of the cake walk monitors ?

I aminterested to see what they are like

I am useing a set of tapco SW5s http://www.soundonsound.c...4/articles/tapcos5.htm

I would like to have a couple of sets of monitors in my set up and thought about the cakwalk ones just to get different references on different speekers etc

I will be updateing to A high end set of mackies in a few months aswell so that would be me happy after that

So whats your thoughts guys should I go for a set of the cake alk ones aswell and use them as well as theys or just stick with the tapcos ?

I am open to all suggestions :)

well i asked about that 2 and this is the answer i got.that they sound stellar as long as you buy a subwoofer to go with it to take care of all the lows.im planning on buying the ma-15d monitors with a ENERGY esw-8 subwoofer with the v-studio 700 package i got 3,000 so 1 more month and ima buy everything.it seems that this is the best bang for the buck since the sub and the monitors are still gonna come out to less then 400 and have more low end definition without distortion.my uncle has the esw-8 sub and sound solid no distortion no matter how high

If you have a small (5") monitor... the best thing that you can do to improve the sound is to add a sub.

I have the Mackie MR-5 monitors. I bought a Polk audio sub for around $225 (IIRC) I've seen prices that vary widely so look around....

It has made a major difference in the listening experience and also the recording/tracking experience as well.
I can hear the synth low notes really well, the bass & kick have some serious thump in them and it's all at a very reasonable listening level.

My sub is the Polk audio PSW-110 10" speaker/100w amp  more here

Hey guys Just in case you can help or are still watching this thread I am going to copy and paste what i just put up over on the vs 700 forum

I hope so much you can all help me with this so here goes .......

    Hi all!!!!

Ive been thinking for a while now about geting a small subwoofer for my home studio the room isnt very big.

The one big down side to all of this is I havent got a lot of money Ive used almost everything I have to set up my home studio to the standard it is at the moment.

So with that said and house hold bills comeing in I have a limit of what I think will be about £60 -£100 at the very most. ( I know this is not a lot of money and I dout I will get something at this price).

The monitors I am useing are Tapco s5's ( made by mackie but have been discontinued).

You can read a review about them here http://www.soundonsound.c...4/articles/tapcos5.htm

I like them and cant really fault them they are doing me well but as the review here says "Clearly there must be compromises with a monitor of this size and cost — the bass end drops away quite rapidly below the traditional kick-drum frequencies, the overall 'focus' isn't quite the equal of expensive monitors, and the maximum SPL is lower — but there are no compromises so serious that you can't make great mixes on them"

I have noticed this a lot recently  ( I use a roland td20 and also use superior drummer 2 but have noticed the lack of feeling in the kick drum ) I have been doing some jams with my bass player friend once I have a ruff mix of the two of us I will take it to my other computer that has a cheep set of creative speekers with a subwoofer and the first thing I can see a difference is the kick drum just hits you and the bass is pounding (this is just from a cheep sub like i was saying)

So I am hopeing to find somehting I can use and pick up very cheep that will at least give me a bit more of lets say a thump and a kick up the arse

    I have seen this http://www.richersounds.c...rumble/elta-rumble-blk

Its chee but looks like it could do the job

I have no idea if I could set this up with my vs 700 or with my tapcos so I am looking for some advice or some one to tell me yes it will or no it wont.

Even if some one could point me in the direction of something in my price range I could get I will by it straight away  It would have to be from a UK shop / suplyer though

I hope some one can help me with this

I dont just want a sub for mixing I spend a lot of time just relaxing in my studio listening to music so would be nice to have it for that reason aswell.

Thanks to every one who reads this and I am sorry about the long email and I hope I have explained my self as best I can

    Thanks to every one

I love you and can not really blame that I'm okay, but the review is here said "It is clear that there must be a commitment to a screen of this size and cost - not low flows quickly below the drum failure frequencies the general 'target' is not equal expensive monitors.

[<font]Cakewalk Pro Audio 4.01 is one of this new wave of MIDI + Audio recorders, and describes itself as 'the MIDI and Digital Audio Workstation for Windows. It features of digital audio recording and editing, MIDI recording and score printing.[<font]he Play Control, sometimes called Volume Control, is where you set the volume levels when playing back tracks, and also for setting monitoring levels while recording. And we will get the good result also. and get the good music also.

I have had the Edirol MA-7A monitor that I original got around 2004 and then they recently stopped working so I got the same kind of monitors but just they are called Cakewalk MA-7A and they sound the same and look the same. I got the woodgrain color ones since it matches my home.  But as I said on my other topic I hope they were just out of stock but still making more of them. But in the worst case they discontinued them but maybe they will make a new monitor like the MA-7A. Before I got the Edirol MA-7A I had the MA-10D and those sounded good too but just didn't have alot of bass. But when I got the MA-7A I hear alot more lower end bass that I never heard on the MA-10D monitors. I like the MaxxBass feature that the MA-7A has since it makes the speakers sound bigger but doesn't overdrive them much. Also what's nice is that these have a sub-out RCA so if I wanted more bass I can connect a sub easily.
