Any thoughts on Broadjam Music Services (and others like it)?

Hi y'all.  Been a while.

Any 'o you got thoughts as to which original music promotion sites (Taxi, Broadjam, Mixposure) are worth looking into?  Been out of the loop for a bit and seriously - I just don't want to waste my time with slogging my music to people who will rip rights away or whatnot.  Broadjam (since I signed up on the free service) is offering $2500.00 for a song here and there ...like almost every day?  Really?  Something fishy there.... has to be.  What do you LOSE if they pick your song for a movie or whatnot?  Due to my health condition, I don't have a lot of useable free time, so any thoughtful responses to this would be great.  Just want to make an intelligent 'push' without getting burned.

Hope all o' you are enjoying the summer, even though it's too dang hot at times!

Take care,

Martin B.

Taxi is not a music promotion site. It is a (glorified) internet members only tip service. They get listings from producers, members can submit to the listing ($5 per song submission fee), they have a group of music industry folks who pre-screen the songs and either return them to you or forward them to the end user.

Any and all deals as a result are totally between you and the end user. Taxi does not take a cut.

Getting past the TAXI screeners is not an easy job. They have a very high bar for quality and being on target to the listing requirements. Close is no cigar. Some pretty impressive listings come across the wire from time to time and a number of people have gotten some really nice deals.

Like anything.... investigate and see for yourself before you commit & spend money.  You can join the forum and browse the web site for free. You can do everything a member can do except submit music to the listings.

I am vaguely familiar with the other two you mentioned. I recall that TAXI used to require/use BroadJam as their music hosting service. A few years ago they dropped that and now do their own hosting and that hosting service is included in the yearly membership cost.

Don't bore us, get to the chorus, Guy Chambers hey!
what do you think of the songs that they do on that programme, I noticed that the verses were good, but the choruses on all the songs let the songs down!

Hey gents.  Yeah...too good to be true.  (REALLY BROADJAM, YOU'RE LOOKING FOR A NEW SONG EVERY DAY IN A DIFFERENT CATEGORY...there's THAT MUCH DEMAND?)  My wife figured out quickly the very obvious:  that if - for $10.00 per submission - 1000 people who think they have the winning tune submits their song then Broadjam has made $10,000 bucks.  I think I'll stick with valid industry bibles (re publishers and the like) rather than chance this possible money-sucking rip off (as time and health permit).

Thank you for your considerations on the matter.

    Take care,

The Songwriters Market guide is a decent and inexpensive resource for publishers and other industry people.....

Most of the big name publishing houses are "closed" to unsolicited material. You have to know somebody there, and or be recommended to them to get a foot in the door. Another way is if you have a hit song, they might be interested in you as a writer.

It's a very hard industry to break into as a songwriter. Not impossible, but certainly not very easy.
