Anybody have New York Studios for Superior Drummer 2?

I like the avatar kit, but am thinking about getting the New York Studio expansion.   Anybody have this?  And what do you like about it?

I have it and I think it sounds great. Couple it up with some grooves from GrooveMonkee and you are locked and loaded.

A lot of the advert clips for Superior's launch were done with the New York Allaire Kit. A smart move as it's a great kit. It was always a no-brainer to buy this expansion. If you buy, then buy it when there's an offer. They come around regular so it wouldn't be much of a wait.

I've been waiting for a special offer for almost a year!  If there was an offer I must have missed it.  It is still $179 and it is hard to justify spending that kind of money on it when I spent only $99 for Superior Drummer 2 because of the upgrade from EZD.  I guess I'll just have to spend that kind of money if I want it.

The one thing I'm looking for is a better ride - bell.  I would like something that sounds like you are smacking the bell with the side of the stick.  The Ride bells in avatar all seem to be wimpy like you are hitting with the tip of the stick.  Are the Ride Bells better in this expansion?

The deals were out there. I just purchased the upgrade from EZ to SD2 for $59.00 about a week ago myself.
Then I got the upgrade to NEW YORK STUDIOS VOL.2 SDX EXPANSION for $79.00.
That being said I just got a great deal on SSD4 & haven't used SD2 since!

Still they sound nice though, pm if you want the info for NEW YORK STUDIOS VOL.2 SDX EXPANSION. The $79.00 may still apply.

As Carl says, there have been deals. There would have been quite a few over a year. They do the deals in various ways ways. Sometimes as bundles or 40-50% off. They do different deals in US and in Europe and sometimes stagger them. Definitely do not pay the top whack for it!

Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place.  Or maybe I just haven't checked often enough.   The only place I check is the Toontrack website - Is that where they have the deals?  Or do I have to check Sweetwater or some other re-seller?

Pretty much every deal on audio gear is seen by someone and posted here:

I won't say 'much better' than it is different. To my ears much cleaner & realistic.
There's a big trade off though, SSD4 IMO is not finished with bugs & need of re-tooling, however the 'sound ' is there.
I'm still a huge fan & user of Addictive Drums too.

Toontrack website is nearly always the full price all of the time. As well as looking at KVR, get yourself on one or two mailing lists of re-sellers. You will get more emails but it only takes a few seconds to read and delete and can save you a lot of money.

Is anyone here familiar w/ AudioDeluxe? I see a few interesting deals on expansions and the crossgrade to SD + NY Studio drums goes for $169, which isn't a bad deal. (Geno, the NY Studio expansion by itself is $79).

It's been mentioned in another thread here, but Florida Music's current deal is still the least expensive (At least, for U.S. customers):

    http://www.floridamusicco.com/proddetail~prod~Toontrack_superior_drummer_2_crossgrade.htm

Their crossgrade price with discs is $66.  Add the NY Studio exp for $79 and that's $145 total.

Quick question - I'm away from home for 3 months so the best option for me would be download only. Is all the SD2 content available for download and how big a dl are we talking about?

EDIT - Nevermind - I figured out via Toontrack's own web site. Partial download. :( Oh well.

That's the one I ordered. No problems with FloridaMusic, got it in less than a week + they sent extra copies of Roots. I guess by mistake since the serial numbers aren't included.

I use AudioDeluxe too, no problems ordering through them either. Never pay full retail for software!

Oh well, I guess I'll have to wait. Overseas orders must be shipped to the same address as the billing address. Unfortunately, since my billing address is in Canada and I'm in Russia for 3 months then probably fly to the the US for another 5 months...

Thanks for confirming AudioDeluxe is ok. I had my eyes on the Nashville kit, I guess I'll get it from there.

I use PayPal, I'm in Florida 6 months out the year so my regular address gets billed & have items shipped here.
Also using PayPal in most cases you don't have to fill out all the any correct registration info since it will use what you have listed in your PP account.
For shipping overseas you may need to be verified but I'd check it out for any future purchasing.

I've used Florida Music and Audio Deluxe and have not had any problems with either one. Florida Music in particular ships really really fast. Another place to look for deals is Amazon.com since they are the fulfillment center for a lot of the places that sell music stuff.

Never look on Toontracks web site for a deal. I got New York Studio for $79 from Florida Music a little while ago. I also got the Roots bundle from them for a decent price.

FWIW. I use the Nashville kit on a lot of different types of projects other than just country. It holds it's own in a lot of different types of music. Not quite a hard rock or metal kit, but classic rock, southern rock, and modern country as well. It's very, very flexible. The brush kit in it alone is worth the price. BTW, Harry Stinson played here with Marty Stuart. I thanked him for his product and told him that he was really working hard at my studio. But he's only getting union pay. He's a very funny guy!

I might give it a try, Carl. I'll have to verify if I can work that out, since my Paypal account is confirmed and tied to a Canadian bank account. Not much a problem to order from anywhere over there, but I'm not sure changing my info to a Russian address will work.

Thanks for chiming in Sidney. :) After checking the various demos, the Nashville kit seems to be the one I'd likely be able to sculpt to fit what I'm working on. The name Nashville made me overlook it at first, but after auditioning it, I realized that it wasn't strictly country sounding - whatever that would be anyway...

What I meant is when ordering online the store wants you to register with them before it goes to PP. When you login to PP it then uses the info in your PP account to make the actual purchase.
I sometimes leave only my initials instead of full name, mark my tele as 'unlisted' etc..

I can second that opinion on the Nashville kit. I also had this prejudice cause I am not a fan of most country music but the kit sounds really really good. I have no idea why they pigeonholed the kit by calling it Nashville.

It's probably called Nashville because it was recorded in one of the premier studios in Nashville while one of the mainstays of the scene in that town performed the samples. It also does not sound quite aggresive enough to fit the harder rock edge. It still is a mainstay in a lot of my retro country products. Harry Stinson the drummer(also producer) is very in tune with the classic techniques of country drumming. I guess that is why you see a kit in there played with the hands, no sticks! I also have the Jazz EZX, which is a very straight ahead jazz library. The brush kit in the Nashville library stands toe to toe with it. All in all, the Nashville is a must have. That kit and the Avatar kits should cover anything you have to do other than metal. Then add the NY Studio. That setup should hold you a long time. Quick note, the Latin Percussion is a must have. There are no percussion instruments in any of the other expansions.
