Anymore - by Voda La Void
Anymore - The song plays auto-magically. This one is more of a ballad thing (after the instrumental intro), written after a bad LSD trip almost 20 years ago. I didn't understand social phobia at the time, what was going on with me, and this trip sent me over the edge with it. There were about 10 of us, including my future wife, and I couldn't talk to any of them - I planted myself on the couch, with a milk jug full of water, and just watched them all like a movie. I was not part of them, I could not participate in anything, couldn't move, I was scared to death, and they knew it - and friends as they were, they let me be. It was exactly what I needed. I watched them play and carry on, was fascinated, but in constant fear and isolation, right there in the living room. After this, I became severely depressed because I finally had to accept...this is really never going to go away, is it? It really is going to screw with my relationships I've built, to create a family, to be a musician and put myself out there. Of course, we all have our battles to fight, right? We all struggle with something, sometimes sight unseen. I always remember this. No pity parties - we have to overcome. Nobody gets out of this world alive. And the rules change for no one, no matter our weakness nor how unfair we think it is.

I thought the instrumental intro was good. Nice use of flange.

I was liking this but it ended abruptly. Was it intentional or is my computer acting up again?

That is very cool. Cool sounds all the way around. Perfect balance on all instruments. The ethereal vocals are too cool.

Thanks to all for listening - much appreciated! I was really hoping you guys would dig this. Wookie, Freddy J - my apologies on the player problems. I reported it to SoundClick support and they are not finding an issue, even though you fellas and myself ran into this yesterday. They are citing connection speed issues. This song is a 320Kbit MP3, and it's 7:53 long, so I think what is happening is if our connection is not really fast, with few errors, then it "stops" rather than "buffering" once it plays all that's been downloaded. If you notice, the "pause" button doesn't work either, rather it "stops" songs and reloads them to the beginning. The player is terrible, and they are not fixing it. I think I'm finding why I need to go to Soundcloud instead. I've always like SoundClick, but now that I'm paying for it and uploading long songs with fairly high quality MP3's, I need something more reliable.

Awesome!!! It did kind of end abruptly. I expected it to keep going longer after the acoustic and vocals kicked in. Nothing wrong with the unexpected though. It's definitely a musical journey.Fantastic piece of work, the mix sounds polished. Rocky

Thank you Bluzdog, but no it's not supposed to end abruptly. There's more to it, but you heard most of it I think. It's almost 8 minutes, so you were close - ha ha! It's a SoundClick player issue and they do not appear to care too much about it. Not sure why I'm shocked about that...I guess I thought customer flight to SoundCloud might matter a bit more than it does to them. The bummer about SoundCloud is that my employer blocks the site - which is why I stopped trying to review songs here at work when it's slow, because everyone uses SoundCloud anymore.

Like the sound. I hear bits and pieces of Pink Floyd, Yes, Genesis, and even King Crimson. More modern influences, too. Enjoyed some of your other stuff on SoundClick, too.

Hi, Tim, Very cool piece of music with lots of interesting elements popping in and out! I agree with BBB, I immediately thought of Yes and Floyd right off the bat, which is a good thing in my opinion. The vocals and harmonies were excellent, all of the musical performances were top-notch, and the mix sounds right on the money for progressive rock. Great stuff, thanks for sharing, have a good one! BBB - awesome you could mine those influences out of this work. It's true, those are huge influences for me, especially Floyd and Crimson. Thanks. Bob - again, awesome that you heard those in my work. I am glad to hear about the vocals too, because I was a little worried on this one. I can't go back and fix anything on it since the tracked out version was stolen years ago. And you used the "P" word (progressive) to describe it and I couldn't be more pleased. Thanks man! Kostas - your English is better than my math - ha! Thanks for listening.

If I hadn't known the premise of the song I might have still guessed "trippy" as a description. It was heady and an adventure to listen to. I'm not sure I would want to be part of that adventure, even so , I could feel it.The music was top notch in every way. I like songs that take the listener on a journey and this was definitly that. Expertly done!

Thank you Starise. Honestly, this experience was quite formative. I realized that I had gone too far with LSD, and that it might be messing with my mind, as well as acknowledging that this social phobia I was fighting with was not just going to "go away" like the flu. I still partied and did drugs, and I won't say I've outgrown all that, but I made major changes in my life for the better. So, it was an important adventure. Thanks for listening and your kind words.

I didn't listen to the entire song, but as you know from the previous comments it's very well produced. I liked the part best where vocals and the acoustic guitar come in.
