Z3TA+ 1 Has a interesting vocoder.  Use it in the effects bin of an audio (mic) track.  Allows you to use the Z3TA1 effects such as modulation, distortion, delay and reverb.

MVocoder is on a 3 day 50% sale NOW as part of Melda's May Madness (50% off 3 plugs every 3 days).
http://www.meldaproduction.com/download.php?plugin=MVocoder

Bought, downloaded, installed - just gotta figure how to use it now :).
(I have had previous success with TAL Vocoder II, which is a great freebie).

I have been looking at a number of Youtube videos for different plug ins (brass and vocoders). It stuns me how developers fail to make good use of Social media to promote things. Instructional videos are a great way to ease woriies about the sound or the complexities of a plug in.

Try the demo. It is on sale for a few more hours. Sale ends at at 0:00 London time. It won't go on sale again for at least another day or two. :)

At least that is how it has been for the last week. MeldaProduct has a different promotion every month.

It's a bit early to make any fair assessment other than to say ... a few hours in and ...

- I've got it working :)
- There is a learning curve and I still don't fully understand the science behind it.
- For me, yet, it's a bit 'pick a carrier signal then toggle through a bunch of presets until I find a suitable basis for tweaking some knobs'.
- There's a lot more to the product and tools to assist finding those combinations. Gotta work out how to make the most of them.
- Next I'll look into the effects like Whitening and Formant Shift to 'clean up' speech clarity.
- There is also technique to master - timing key strokes to syllables etc.

I just had another quick play and had fairly good success on a number of different carrier voices from Rapture (with simply Whitening and Formant Shift tweaks). More to learn though.

You can also use the Pentagon synth:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWdYrxXo0xA
Best part is that it's included in SONAR.

Oh, sure.  Actually, Craig did a tutorial on using Pentagon I as a vocoder in SOS back in 2010 (where did the time go?).  Here's a link to the article which includes other tips and tricks with vocals: http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/sep10/articles/sonar-notes-0910.htm  (the Pentagon I vocoder is at the end.)

Kind regards,

I'm confused by MVELDAs current offer

"May madness triple-discount in progress!
50% off different 3 plugins every 3 days!"

I assumed this would mean, when it's picked to be on offer, the offer would stand for 3 days, but the MVocoder was only on offer for one day, yesterday.

I've been watching daily, it was there for just one day. Being that it's a May 3 day special, and it's the third of May, It should still be there, if it had been added at the 1st, but it was added yesterday.

Damn, I'm not getting my head around this 3 day offer thing. MVocoder was listed yesterday, but I was too busy, now it's gone. Looks like its 3 random effects everyday, than every three days.

Thanks, that's my back up plan. I am trying to compare Vocodex with Mvocoder, I downloaded both demos last week, I'm fairly happy with Vocodex, but it didn't quite hit the spot, though this could be my choice of modulator. I am hoping the 3 day thing means will yet see Melda show it again, as it's now shown 2 days in May, and I should have my opinion confirmed today on both demos. I'd prefer to buy from the manufacturer, but failing that I'll take your suggestion.

Image-Line Harmor
and its additive resynthesis, while not working quite like a "classic" vocoder, the additive resynthesis provides plenty more sound and performance versatility than any "classic" vocoder signal chain.

But can it do a classic vocoded voice. Went through the demos and found no examples. I've liked the idea of additive synthesis since reading about Kawai K5000, but its a different kettle of fish to vocoding, not a matter of better or worse.

I am now assuming Melda's

which has takes effect from 0:00 London time. Has gone bonkers, as since posting after 0:00 that it's not on offer but was, is now on offer, with 3 others, so now 4 effects are on offer (not 3)

The 4th is MRotary which has been on 'introductory offer' throughout. But indeed, 2 sets of 3 products appear to have alternated over the first 6 days of May. Perhaps a programming glitch(?).

This thread is cold, but I found it while searching for a vocoder the other day.  I was trying to get one for free or cheap and I wasn't having any luck with Tal or vocovee or any others for that matter.

THEN, someone mentioned that REAKTOR from NI has a vocoder.  I own Komplete 7 and I've used REAKTOR for "The Finger".  Well, there isn't much info available on the vocoder in Reaktor, I did find a 4 part video series on Vimeo that was great and extremely complicated.

When i had a minute i opened it up and found it under "Ensemble".
At first i didn't hear anything, but faintly, YES something was happening!

I put reaktor as a vsti in the vocal track fx bin.  Then i inserted a midi track and routed it to Reaktor.  recorded some notes and looped the region.  After playing with the knobs in Reaktor, I got the classic vocoder sound i was looking for.

DAMN!!!  I've had it for YEARS and i never knew it!  I have many times used Pentagon when this would have been a better fit.   I hate and love it when I find out I had something already :s

There seems quite a lot of demos with the Vocodex, due to FL. I don't understand why more manufactures don't make more of Youtube. Was trying to find out yestrerday what was next on the horizon for AAS, if they were going to release a new string studio (which does need an overhaul) or model a new range, but they seem inept at social media, and the facebook page is hardly worth having.

B&H seem to have a the best price on the Vocodex
http://www.bhphotovideo.c...re_download.html

+1 for vocodex. It's a great sounding vocoder! :)

I used it in my interpretation of Kraftwerk's "The Robots". So here's a little demo of how it can sound:

Here I used a sawtooth with some noise as a carrier.
