Anyone Rolled back to Windows 7 from Windows 10 ?

If so, did it work out ok ? I am about to give it a whirl, I did do a system back up before I let Windows 10 install, so I should be right either way, just curious.

I've read others have had no issue. Although this does not take account for Murphy's law.

Thanks, Well with my luck Murphy will probably bite me on the ass, just as long as he doesn't stick his nose into the Acronis restore, I'll be happy

There is a thread on the Windows 10 forum that the rollback has problems.  You can try but better off doing a restore from a backup, if Win 10 doesn't work for you.   Other than the initial Roland no drivers problem (which has been corrected) I didn't have any issues upgrading.

I would definitely attempt to rollback first.

It seems to work fine, I have only tried it out on one of my laptops, it's the hideous look of the thing that I can't stand, and there doesn't seem to be a way to change that to something acceptable. I'll try a rollback first, see how that goes, if not, then a restore.

Well the roll back was pretty painless and all seems fine (so far), the only thing is I have about 10GB less of free space than I did before I installed Windows 10, which I have tracked down to 3 folders on my C drive,
    $Windows.~WS
    $Windows.~BT
    $SysReset

The first 2 were created the day I installed Windows 10, the last was created at roll back, but it is only 33.2KB, but it's good to be home

There is a "learning curve" for those coming from Win 7 to Win 10 because of the tiles.  "Start 10" (upgraded Start8) will make Win 10 look like Windows 7's start menu.  For those that want the new features and latency of Win 10 but want the familiar Windows 7 desktop and start menu I recommend looking at Start10.   I had Start8 on my Windows 8.1 installation and when I upgraded to Win 10 the Start8 and Windows 7 desktop was still there.  I've been working with Win 10 Preview versions for a while and got used to the Win 10 start menus so I uninstalled Start8 and am using the native Win 10 start menu.

    http://www.stardock.com/products/start10/

There are two start menus with the native Windows 10.  If you LEFT click on the start icon you get the new Win 10 menu.  However, if you RIGHT click on the start icon you get a list of options such as Run, Control Panel, File Explorer, Task Manger and more.

Thanks, but it goes far beyond start menus, it's anything that is open, no tittle bars, just white, square sharp edges, and no, the asthetics aren't the most important thing, but I do have to look at it, so . . . it reminds me of a number of years back when I was stuck in the Linux grove for a few of years, there was some bug or something, can't recall, but it would leave you with no title bars on your open windows and stuff like that, that's what it actually looks and feels like to me, a bug, something wrong, a mistake, absolutely hate it, thought it may just be unfamiliarity and that it may grow on me or become 'familiar' or acceptable, but a couple of weeks was all I could stand, I wish I had a better word to describe what I think of it other than hideous, but . . .  It's not just the look, the feel, it feels dumbed down or something, and that may have to do with that it is made to be equally at home on PC's, Tablets and mobile phones etc, compromises would have to be made, and the PC being the more powerful is the one that would feel those compromises the most. That's what I think anyway, I may of course be wrong, but one thing I am not wrong about is I just don't like it, never liked Windows 8 either.

I never found it to be markedly faster than my Windows 7, I don't have a problem with, or have ever thought, 'gee I wish my PC was faster, or would boot faster' I don't have a problem on my music PC's, or have never thought or felt the want or need for lower latency, I just don't have an issue with it, my PC is more than fast enough as is with Windows 7, and rock solid. It's kind of like, my car can do 265KPH, I could buy another one that does 280KPH, but whats the point, the speed limit is 100KPH, I just don't need any extra speed or power.

I am quite happy with Windows 7, and quite happy to stay with it until I am forced to do otherwise. Windows 10 is just not for me at this time.

That was my perception of Win8/8.1 as well. If 10 is still trucking down the cross-platform road, I doubt it will ever appeal to me either.

I rolled back without issue only to later change my mind again and reinstall it. I think I read somewhere that the option to go back to Windows 7 via Windows 10 times out in a few weeks.

I think I read somewhere that you have 30 days from when its installed to rollback.

Win7 to Win8.1 I was surprised to see (as a skeptic) the overall CPU core balance was a huge improvement. I assume Win10 at least inherits this improvement from 8.1.

I liked Win7 but after that I liked 8.1 even more. I suspect the people who didn't like the start screen never spent an hour customising it to their requirements. It's much faster to start apps than win7 once you got it tweaked and you can avoid metro almost altogether.

    Hope win10 isn't a step backwards here.

Yes, you have 30 days/1 month to do your rolling back, after that you're locked in, unless you have a backup, or do a reinstall of previous version (hopefully) They do give you a message after the roll back saying you are welcome to return to Windows 10 anytime you like.
