Anyone Running RealGuitar (or RealGuitar2) on X1?

I depend on RealGuitar a great deal.  I installed it on my new PC and it works in standalone mode.  When I go to Insert Soft Synth in X1, there is a MusicLab folder.  I select RealGuitar2, choose the details (single audio track and single MIDI track), and then get a message that says "The soft synth may not be installed properly."  (Note: I get the same message if I select "Simple Instrument Track" so that is not the problem.)

I have uninstalled and reinstalled RG several times with the same result.

Before I blame RealGuitar, note that (a) it always worked flawlessly in earlier versions of Sonar and (b) I have had problems with other VIs like Vienna--so I think there is something goofed in Sonar.

I am waiting on a response from Sergey at Musiclab but he seesm to be out and I REALLY need this to work this week-end.

Ideas?

It's working for me with no problems in X1b.  Just finished a project using it.

I use it and I am running 64 bit Sonar X1. I have had no problems with it.

I wonder if some of these problems could be due to UAC?

Thanks, Michael.  Questions: When you Insert Soft Synth, do you see RealGuitar under VST Plug Ins or in a separate MusicLab menu option?  RG has to run as a VST but that's not where I see it in the Sonar menu--even though the dll is in the right place on my drive, etc.  Also, is your PC 64 or 32 bit?

Any help is greatly appreciated.  (I just had BigFish Audio overnight me Vir2 Acoustic Legends HD so I could work until RealGuitar is fixed.)

    konradh:

What version of Sonar are you using?

There is a RealGuitar/RealStrat x64 beta, if you are using SONAR x64. Get the betas at the Musiclab forums.

As John said, it may be an issue from having user account control on. I have UAC off. Also, make sure you run SONAR as an admin. By right clicking on the desktop shortcut and going to Properties, and selecting the Advanced button, you can set SONAR to always run as an admin by clicking in the box next to "run as admin." I have SONAR setup to always run as an admin.

I also run RealGuitar and RealStrat in SONAR X1 x64 and SONAR X1 32bit, using the x64 Betas and the 32bit versions. Once I installed the X64 betas, the 32bit versions of these programs wouldn't start, but they started working again when I reinstalled them. Make sure you re-scan the VSTi plug ins after a re-install, and make sure you select and add the correct path for the Musiclab plug ins using the Cakewalk Plug In Manager.

    Hope this helps.

Hi Konradh-  My PC is a Vista 64 system.  RG2 shows up as a separate instrument on the Synth list not in a MusicLab menu. I also have RealStrat and RealLPC which also show up separately and not in a MusicLab menu nor the VST folder.  All the musiclab synth vst dlls are on c:\program files (x86)\musiclab.

    Good Luck.
