Just a wild guess, but I'd say the answer is "Yes" otherwise they would be out of business.

"Chow" is a slang term for food. I believe you meant "ciao" (pronounced "chow") which is a word used to express greeting or farewell.

I tried using it with Fruityloops, but it didn't work. Do you use it with Sonar? Wanna tell me how to get it work? Haha
    Cheers,

    I try to educate.

Some questions are not specific enough to deserve an answer.

And when people use or spell words wrong, I try to correct them. Could you imagine if he was trying to impress a girl and wrote "chow" instead of "ciao"? How embarrassing would that be? The current generation has really failed to educate themselves in school and out of school.

If you don't like it, too bad.

No I use it with HS and P5. The EO is a multiple output softsynth so when you install it for the first time it asks you if you wish to use a single stereo output all the outputs. After this it's a case of setting up the MIDI and audio inputs and outputs in HS.

In the software itself the orchestral has a switch near the top right hand corner labelled outputs revealing all four of the audio outputs. If you select output 2 on part 1 which is also MIDI channel 1 you need to make sure that the appropriate audio input/output in HS is also set to 2.

If you have HS and leave me your email address on this thread I'll email a little default setup for Edirol Orchestral.

Hi, I use it - a lot, (and SuperQuartet and HyperCanvas) even though I'm not really a symphonic composer.

Do you have it and what do/don't you like about it?

Although it's probably not the definitive Orch software nowadays 'I have it so I like it'..

What I really like about it: It shows you what notes are in the instruments range so I could compose for a real instrument. The automable vibrato and Random Modulation tools are useful. The panning control for the instrument's range is interesting. Being able to tune and pan individual percussion sounds is great.

Some sounds are better than others: my faves - alto flute vibrato; bass flute, harp; harpsichord;oboes, violin vibrato, contrabass, different french horn ens sounds. Some ensemble strings are a bit grainy in places and there could be more expression in places.

The reverb is sweet (but a bit grainy on xylophones) and the DelayToReverb effect is especially good.

Downside: It's tempermental as to whether I can move the knobs after recording but for some reason not as bad as it used to be. If you record the automation then that gets over it.

Overall it's good but a new buyer would be put off by its price compared with garritan etc.

Further to my last post I remembered the nature of your query.

You may have difficulty trying to control some of the knobs if you had already recorded parts in another synth, say Virtual Sound Canvas.

I recall that when I got EO, I spent time trying to convert the midi parts from VCS to EO and found that if I tried to move some of the knobs in EO, like 'Character', etc, it would always revert back to zero when played back which was frustrating. But as I say 'recording' a knob movement (i.o.w automation) gets over that. For new parts it doesn't seem to be a problem - it now seems fully flexible.

I think it must be something to do with MIDI data stored somewhere in Cakewalk.

THE FIRST RULE OF MUSIC IS THAT THERE ARE NO RULES

It's not really true, you know...

The book you are talking about may be garbage, but there are a LOT of "rules" in music. When people say "The first rule of music is that there are no rules", I take that as a sort of mantra that can help you from being boxed in by expectations, and keep you from writing the same song over and over again. It should not be taken as encouragement to avoid learning basic rules of musicianship.

The trick is to selectively break one or two of them, while following the rest. Ignoring the rules completely (or not knowing them in the first place) creates a distinct sound, generally referred to as "amateurish".

Don't confuse "musicianship" rules with "style" rules. Each established musical style has its own set of additional rules that helps to create the style. You can violate a whole series of these, and still have good music, albiet one that resists categorization.
