Anyone Using Studio One Remote on iPad with Windows 10?

Using an iPad mini 2 but for some reason it won't see Studio One. I've tried all the hacks mentioned on the Studio One forum but nothing works here.

Windows 10 1709

iPad mini 2
OS 11

EDIT:
Everything's on the same home WiFi Netgear 2.5/5GHz

    Yes. Had 2 problems.

First one was an interface issue. I have a Motu - there is a note on the Presonus answer area - the interface was blocking information being sent from my air 2. You may want to check to see if your interface exhibits the same behavior.

The second was a picnic (problem in chair, not in computer). I have a wireless router connected to my CS and RM unit. My PC is also connected to a wireless home router for the internet. I was trying to connect the iPad to the CS RM unit... no dice. Connected to the home router and it worked.

That feature takes a LOT longer to synch up for me than I would ever have thought, like up to a minute at times. I was fiddling with it one day, then blew it off and it synched up.

Instant on my android. Perhaps it is port scanning to connect and there are loads of blocked ports?

Normally firewalls are the issue regardless (or not on LAN).

The Windows version of the remote app is in your Presonus account. Make sure you are looking at Windows versions of the program though otherwise it won't show up. i.e. if you are looking at the MAC OS systems versions.

    It's under My Products/Software/Studio One 3 Professional/View More Details/Installers

Make sure you select Other Systems here if you are looking at Mac installers.

I have Studio One installed on an iMac as well as my studio Win7 machine.  I run the remote app on an iPad as well and it finds either install perfectly.  It is a very handy app actually.

I use my surface pro as a remote sometimes and 2 android tablets laying around for when I’m walking around the studio. I had an issue at first with ports and firewall. I went thru and basically opened my entire connection and disabled firewall. Has worked flawlessly since.

Really really bad idea to completely disable your FireWire btw, you should just let through the ports it needs. Hope it's nowhere near the internet/WiFi is off.

Seems a lot of people are having this issue with no solution. I've never gotten any kind of remote app to work, so the joke's on me I guess.

One place to check in Studio One itself is:

    Settings/Network.

Check: Allow remote app to discover this DAW.

    Sorry if this is obvious.

The computer must obviously have WiFi on. Try disabling the virus checker. Check your firewall is not blocking this also. iPad obviously should have its wi fi on. All being well as soon as you boot up the remote app you should see your    Studio One there and the computer it is on etc..

Latest. I've also have it working on previous Android version. It won't install from the play store if not compatible.

Done all that. It simply doesnt work here. There may be one little thing Im missing but I have no clue what.

Seems fishy why it works w/o a hitch for some, with a few tweeks for others, and not at all for me.

The windows version works but useless without a windows mobile or 3rd touch screen

I will try the android app next.

All my devices are hooked wirelessly. Android app doesn't work either.

Maybe a step by step set-up might help. The app instructions leave out any detailed stops hindering progress.

One thing the SO forums say is port 47809 must be open. How do I check that?

What brand and model are people using? I was going to get and Android tablet anyway so if I can see what people are getting the app to work on that would be great.

FWIW, I have SO Remote working on an iPad 3 and an iPad Pro. Just downloaded the apps turned them on and it worked the first time using Win 10. My Play Pen computer has wi-fi, but the Internet is disabled.

In the past I've tried remote apps with Sonar and could never get them to work right. The Studio One app is a perfect extension of  SO and I have the Pro mounted on my mike stand, so I can control everything, well, remotely...

Any should work. I have Samsung phones. The issue is probably router related. I need help on how to check port 47809, but so far no one's offered any.

Re: Anyone Using Studio One Remote on iPad with Windows 10? 2018/01/24 00:58:12 (permalink)
Here are a couple of things to try:

A really simple thing which I sometimes forget: After opening the StudioOne Remote App on the iPad, you have to press the big "Studio One" button at the top of the app (should have the PC name and IP Address). This presumes the iPad and Studio One made a connection. Do you actually see this?  Also, try pressing the "scan" button a couple of times if the iPad app doesn't find Studio One.

On your PC, you can use the "Task Manager" to look for the network connection between Studio One and the iPad:
    - Open Task Manager.
    - Open "Performance" tab, at the bottom click on "Resource Monitor",  then click on the "Network" tab.
    - Several performance windows will open.  In the "Network Activity" window there should be a row with:
        "Studio One.exe"  <process id> ... <your iPad name>.
    -  If you don't see that, it sounds like the network connection isn't being made.
    -  FYI, on my computer the active port, for the remote control app, is port 49789.  Port 47809 is shown as open by Studio One, but it's not very active.  NOTE:  the number 49789 seems somewhat arbitrary and probably is assigned when the iPad and Studio One connect.

My system is Win7 Pro, but this shouldn't make a difference.  Luckily for me, the Studio One remote iPad app connected on the first try.  I was quite impressed.  The good news, once you get it working, the remote control app works well.

    Hope this helps.

Edit: In the Resource Monitor "Processes with Network Activity" window, check the "Studio One.exe" box to filter-out data from other processes.

P.S.  Soens, saw you post on Studio One forum too.  I replied there with updated observations.

Thanks Tom. The "big Studio One button at the top" is what's missing and thus my delema. Will try your suggestions when I get home.

    Seems there's no connection.

    Network Activity:
    Studio One.exe; PID 15980; Address 255.255.255.255; Send 34; Receive 34

    TCP Connections:

    Listening Ports:
    1. Studio One.exe; PID- 15980; Address- IPv4 unspecified; Port- 47809; Prtcl- UDP; Firewall- Allowed, not restricted*
    2. " " Port- 50757; Prtcl- UDP; FW- Allowed "*
    3. " " Port- 64151; Prtcl- TCP; FW- Allowed "*
*with firewall OFF. Not allowed, not restricted, with firewall ON.

Looks like firewall is not the issue.

SO RC on my Android phone can't connect either.

Since I've never had any remote apps work on my system it may be my router. PreSonus has a list of routers known to not work, mine might be one they haven't tested.
