Anyone else still waiting for a Win 10 upgrade?

At last someone else waiting !

Its frustrating hearing all the stories about installation etc.

You can force the download via the W10 reserve app, but you'll still need a key to activate i guess.....

Oh well, back to the waiting

Me and all of our PC's at work are still waiting...My daughter got her upgrade last week. I'm planning on waiting a bit anyway.

I waited for my Studio-Capture drivers update notification a couple of days. When they showed updated, I used the Windows Media Creation tool and installed from the dvd. I made sure to custom install so I wouldn't lose my files. Other than the old Roland drivers blocking the new ones, I had no issues so far!
All I had to do was uninstall the old Roland drivers and the new ones came online.
Also, I had to re-id my computer at XLN for my AD2 and all is good!

Not sure about your case Susan but for me (and a lot of others) the update failed.  You can check this by going into Windows Update and looking at the 'update history'. Mine clearly showed that the win 10 update failed.

This is what I did and it worked perfectly.

Hi Susan,
Have you checked your C: drive for this folder:
$Windows.~BT
 
I never received any type of confirmation from MS.
On July 29th or 30th... the install folder was present on my C: drive.
You can also download and create physical install media (DVD or Flash-Drive).
 
Just be sure to have a backup image file before installing Win10 (just in case).

I do in fact have a $Windows.~BT folder on my C: drive; who woulda thunk it ;)! I guess MS just put it there in advance of the confirmation(?). I've read that others haven't received the confirmation email from MS and I'm in no big hurry (esp. since I have a dual boot system and I'm not absolutely sure how the upgrade works for those yet) so I'll wait for the email.

I do in fact have a notice in Windows Update that the Win 10 update failed (one for each time I've checked, in fact). What seems strange is that I'm still getting the same message I got in my OP whenever I check with no indication that there was a failure; it sounds more like a "Just wait" message. I'm also curious about the "$Windows.~BT" folder that Jim mentioned in post #7. How in the heck would the average user know to check for that or run anything in it?
 
At this point I'm not very confident that the update will happen for me, nor do I have any way of knowing why it wouldn't :-(. I guess the only thing to do is wait a while longer and then try a manual update, since I'm not getting any info from MS on what's holding things up if it's something on my system.

Susan - your current OS must be up-to-date for the install to work - make sure you have all the updates and hotfixes for that (i was missing one little hotfix for win 7 and it took me 3 days to find this out and get the install to work)
if you have, you can open a cmd prompt as administrator and type wuauclt.exe/updatenow which should start the win 10 install...

I now have the Get Windows 10 icon in both my Win 7 and Win 8.1 system trays.  Both systems are up to date and confirmed ready for the Win 10 update. As I've said, I'm not in any real hurry to upgrade; I'm just more curious what MS is waiting for! I appreciate all the great info re manually updating and that's what I'll do if it seems like this is as far as I'll get with the auto upgrade on either of my dual boot systems.
